Has become somewhat lazy

Doesn't quite have the same passion in his performances like in the 90's?Although it might have been the booze that fueled that raving maniac inside him, just Look up State of Grace and Scarlet Letter.

I don’t think he’s ever come close to recapturing his mid-80s brilliance - I prefer his work Sid and Nancy, Prick Your Ears and even his small role in Meantime to anything I’ve seen from him in the years since. He is still a good actor but too often resorts to ham.

I consider Drex Spivey as one of his crowning achievements, also Lee Harvey Oswald, great stuff.

reply

I don't know him well but I found he was intense enough in "Criminal".

Being great was like breathing for Oldman from the early 80s to the mid 90s. He's been great a handful of times times since then, but for the most part he's a caricature of himself a la Walken. After he got clean things just weren't the same.

reply

Dude is 62 years old, does anyone have the same passion as they did in their 20's-40's?

reply

I'm older than that and I do.

reply

I doubt that.

reply

Watching Mank and I think he still got it and he was easily the best thing about The Woman in the window.

reply

I thought he was great in 'THE BACKWOODS' (Bosque De Hombres, 2006) alongside Paddy Considine (yet apparently, all concerned hate it?)

reply

If he has, he's the earned the right to be. He'll always be one of the greats.
