Ever since Brassed off, I can not remember a movie where I found him a good actor, and I have seen plenty.
Of course I got to know him in trainspotting. Ever since then I was hoping to see him perform aagain, only once again did he deliver for me.
Star Wars was his complete downfall, what bad acting from his part.

Try Beginners, Moulin Rouge and Young Adam. He's very good, but he's done his fair share of lemons.
Yes he is an amazing actor. And was great in Star Wars. You're an idiot.

shareI think he peaked with Trainspotting. It's his best performance. He's not a bad actor though, he's usually very charming and watchable, even in the terrible films he does.

Umm, no. He's a very good actor. The fact that his performances stood out in the poorly received Star Wars prequels, is a testament to to his acting ability. Watch him in The Ghost Writer, Beginners and Black Hawk Down.
