In our latest WTF series, we take a look at some of our favorite stars and filmmakers who have seemingly disappeared or altered their careers over the years to the point that begs the question; WTF happened? Now, before you think we're just picking on celebrities or running some gossip rag stuff, think again! We take a fun (and sometimes funny), researched, and fair approach, looking at all angles that led our subject to wherever they are now (which isn't necessarily a bad place at all). If anything, it answers the question of where these fine folks went, how they got there, and where you can find 'em now.

This week, we take a look at the career of the amazing Cameron Diaz. From her first appearance in THE MASK, to her turn as an action star in CHARLIE'S ANGELS and its sequel, Diaz has been an icon, who's proven over and over that she's a great actress to boot. While she's recently said that she's retired, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say a Cameron Diaz comeback is overdue. Join us as we take a look at her career and get into the reasons why she might have called it quits.

I personally think she did not age well. She was super hot in her earlier movies, not so much in her last movies... so my personal take is: she turned 40 and Hollywood went "you're too old now".

Not necessarily, if you're 40+ and still hot, then it doesn't matter. It only matters if you rely on looks and your looks fade.

Helen Mirren always seemed like she had a more bustling career post-40 than pre-40. But she also always carried an elegance about her and a measure of a dignified air so that her acting talents could shine through more than whatever she may have been upon in her off-screen life (opposite of a lot of more modern-day actresses).

Unfortunately for Cameron, she is not a good actress. She needs to be carried by her co-stars most of the time (Knight & Day was funny because of Tom Cruise and not really Cameron Diaz), or she has to be carried by her looks (i.e., Charlie's Angels).

40+, what does Cameron have to offer? She has/had a killer body, but was never really an action star. She has an extremely limited acting range (has she ever done a convincing accent?). And her roles typically consisted of being a fun-loving girlfriend, a fun-loving mother, or sultry. Has she ever been convincing in any other archetype besides those?

Cameron Diaz ruled the 1990s and 2000s, but her career seems to have fizzled out in the 2010s. What happened, and why don't we hear from Diaz anymore?
