Leonardo DiCaprio: An Okay Person or Douchebag?

I've been curious about him for a while. I admire his work as an actor and think he's extremely talented. But, I wonder sometimes about him in terms of his personality.

I did a similar topic on The Revenant board asking about how he treats the crew members in his films and the responses have indicated that he's very cordial. In fact, I've seen plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of his films including The Revenant, and he looks like he gets along with everyone. The reason I made that topic is because of a YouTube comment on an interview with Leo and Tom Hardy for The Revenant that rattled me. The person said that he has a friend that's a special effects artist and worked with Leo on some movie, and said that after each body casting, Leo would have his masseuse give him massage, he'd be on the phone, was kind of rude, and was spending millions on picking out paintings in one day. When I shared this on The Revenant board, people have told me that they wouldn't think too much of the comment. Plus, I haven't heard anything in the celebrity news concerning that. He seems like a professional when it comes onset behavior and such. Why would he do that knowing that producing movies and creating special effects cost a lot of money? Though, he may be a better actor than I thought and he hides it very well.

I also saw a couple of years old video on YouTube that lasted like 40 seconds of him and Tobey trying to get into some Las Vegas event and they almost couldn't until someone helped them. Yet it was said that they didn't acknowledge him afterwards.

I already know about him being a party animal and it doesn't bother me that much just as long as he's responsible and safe. What I want to know is is he courteous to people? There are videos of him signing autographs and kinda mingling with his fans, and seems grateful for them.

I've been searching on lots and lots of celebrities with diva like behavior and actors who are difficult to work with lists, and not once was he mentioned nor do I even remember him being brought up. Who knows? Still, I'm on the fence because I like him despite his flaws.

Thoughts?

Yeah. I hope he's not a douchebag in real life. Just because you're a party animal doesn't make you a douchebag. It's how you are towards people. It's just that with reading some of the negative comments about him either here, YouTube, or wherever makes me uneasy, uncomfortable, and sad.

And that few second clip of him and Tobey in Las Vegas, I'm still not so sure. If it is true about what happened, he should've thanked whomever helped them get into the event. But I don't think he's a bad person.

Plus, I've seen a few videos of him at movie premieres and other events signing autographs like it's no problem, and he seems to adore his fans unlike most celebrities(or actors for that matter). I read that after he'd finally won his Oscar, he was told that that there was an online petition created by fans for him to get an Oscar and he said that if he had the chance, he'd thank each one of them.

Exactly. Plus, people tend to forget that celebrities are human beings who have flaws like the rest of us. And he is no exception.

That is sweet of him. There was even a video of him signing a fan's painting. I just hope he doesn't let the Oscar go to his head and forget about his fans in the long run. Some actors, actresses, and celebrities tend to forget that their fans are a huge part in why they're successful and they don't show the gratitude back. I hope he continues to be grateful for his fans and don't let ego take over him. If you notice, those with the huge egos end up having their careers fizzle out. I pray that he doesn't grow an ego because of his well deserved Oscar win.

He's far, far from perfect. Just look at his lifestyle.

I read that he's going to the China premiere for The Revenant and is probably, unless I read it wrong, going to watch the film with fans or something.

Exactly! I actually find that quite sad. I hope that someday, if he decides to, find the right woman.

That is great news for his Chinese fans. I hope things go well there.

Nice talking to you, too. Many blessings.
