What era and movie was he…

…at his alpha male coolest?

reply

Trick question. He was always at his coolest. Even when he was older, he was the go-to example during the '80s/'90s of older men who women find attractive.

1981-Outland

Age 33-36.
Marnie, Dr. No.

The hairpiece ruined it in all the Bonds for me. But after he got rid of that, everything he did for his whole life.

I think The Hunt for Red October showed audiences (and producers) that he had even more screen presence than he used to, and a huge second act in him....as an older action star and leading man (similar to Liam Neeson's second act...but of higher quality). It's tough to think of any actor with more screen presence than Sir Sean.

Yes.
After the Bond period, The Hunt for Red October definitely. Around the same time as The Russia House. But I loved even later, Name of the Rose. And even earlier before Bond, The Hell Drivers.

My favorite Bond movie with him was from Russia wth love. I also liked Goldfinger and Diamonds are forever. Dr. No is too slow paced for my taste. My favorite one with him as an older man is a tie between the Untouchables and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Hunt for Red October and The Rock were good too.
