As the era of in-depth Pierce Brosnan reviews approaches the channel I couldn't help but wonder, does the fifth James Bond deserve more credit? And yes, even Die Another Day!
me included, his movies are way more cheesy and not as classy as Sean Connery but he is my first introduction to Bond and has nostalgic value. His movies are fun. He is my probably third favorite bond but as time passes he might actually tie for 2nd favorite with Daniel Craig. but of course Sean Connery is NUMBER ONE!
Die Another Day introduction is insane and starts as the strongest but gets super cheesy at the end with the Arctic tsunami stuff. The World is Not Enough is one of my favorite bonds and for me my favorite Pierce era film. Its filled with the most amazing action scenes but it is the variety and beauty of the Bond women in this film that really make it the best for me. Golden Eye also is a absolute classic with one of the most epic revolutionary video games to release alongside the movie. The film with the submarine and media mogul villain was the weakest of the Pierce era films but is still enjoyable and nostalgic
For me, Pierce will always be Remington Steele yet I loved GoldenEye. I think if he had edgier scripts, it would have been better but those same inane Bond movies that were so lacking didn’t really happen until Casino Royale when they decided to go a different way. Probably influenced by Jason Bourne. I never watch any of his other Bond movies. Ever. But I love Brosnan in Fourth Protocol, Tailor from Panama, The Ghost Writer, November Man and even Thomas Crown Affair even though there’s no one like McQueen. Brosnan’s a nice guy.
