The movie I will always remember her most for was The Adventures of Robin Hood. RIP
shareIronically I just watched Gone With The Wind for the first time a couple of months ago. Had I not done so, I would not have even known who she was.
But she was excellent in that film and her character--the saintly Melanie, always thinking of others and bearing her cross without complaint--is one that really makes an impression on the viewer.

I agree - she is excellent in GWTW and manages to make Melanie - who could have come across as a saintly simp - into a truly memorable and vital part of the movie.

She's a Christ-like character. In my view, as a Christian, she is the model that we aspire to be but often fail at being.
We should all strive to be more like Melanie: Genuinely caring about others, willing to make sacrifices when necessary.
Sad news. What a life she had. R.I.P.
