Top of the world mom!
No love for Cagney?! You bunch of losers!
shareThey're not losers if they don't love Cagney -- or any other star, for that matter. But they're sure missing out!

His forté was "eccentric" dancing, which occurred below the waist. He used his hands and arms rarely, if it all. It's the style of dancing, but "stiffness." I didn't even look at his bio. The bios are, I think, all cribbed from IMDb, where they're often written by any yahoo who signs up. It's as accurate as Wikipedia. And as inaccurate.
shareLove him! Yes! Public Enemy, and Angels with Dirty Faces are my favorites.
Unique and wonderful performer. There's no one like him. I haven't seen any of his movies in years, but when I did, I appreciated what a fine actor he was and what a great screen presence he had.
shareThe first movie that I ever saw him in was Yankee Doodle Dandy. I watched it with my parents when I was very little and I never forgot it. Heck, I can still remember a lot of the conversation that I had with my parents while we were watching it.
shareWhadda ya hear! Whadda ya say!
White Heat is among my favourite films, along with Angels with Dirty Faces and The Roaring Twenties, James Cagney along with Bogart is one of the all-time greats, many of their movies are so much better than the crap we have today.

I'm on top of the world ma!
I actually have a rather amusing story about that line if you're interested in hearing it.
Yes, please tell us your amusing story.
shareI have two stories about it. The first is about my neice. She's only four, but everytime she climbs something high she yells out "I'm on top of the world ma!" The second is from tge early 2000s. I was channel surfing, and I landed on Spike TV (I think that it is known as Paramount channel these days). I saw Sting the wrestler from WCW in the ring, and I think he had just won the world title. He grabbed the mic and yelled "I'm on top of the world ma!" Neither story is all that amazing, just interesting and funny (at least to me).
shareI couldn't agree more! That's why their films shouldn't be remade.
shareOne of the greatest screen actors of all. Cagney had such charisma and such range, I can watch him in almost anything.
I almost teared up a few years back, watching what was to be his big-screen swan-song in Ragtime.
TCM shows his movies occasionally and I've caught a few of them.
The Roaring Twenties comes to mind. Very good.
