Pop-Tarts just aren't good

I hope I don't lose friends after this blunt and controversial statement but I just don't like them. They taste like mildly sweet cardboard with a hard shell of icing on top. I think I'm supposed to like them but I just don't.

reply

I've never been a fan of Pop Tarts, and I have a sweet tooth.

reply

Your sweet tooth is also clearly a wisdom tooth.

reply

Not my cup of tea.

reply

Silly Andy. You don't drink them.

reply

Not my bag either.

reply

I'm glad you stand in solidarity with me.

reply

They’re not my thing.

reply

These are very nice ways of saying, "they taste like crap".

reply

I politely decline.

reply

I haven't had pop-tarts in years, but I remember them being a lower-tier "pastry" at best; if we can even call them that.

I've heard that they have declined in quality the past few years and that the knock-off brands are actually better than the real deals now.

reply

You were correct to put the word pastry in quotes, my similarly-minded friend. They're just not tasty although they've endured for years. Lots of people eat them but there's just so much more out there that tastes so much better.

My indignation on this topic actually originated from seeing last night that Krispy Kreme has a limited time line of Pop-Tart flavored donuts. Who in their development department thought that pairing donuts with sandy cardboard sugar was a good idea?

reply

Pillsbury toaster strudel is where it's at. More filling and higher quality.

reply

💯

reply

Agreed. (See earlier conversation in this thread with Stratego.) I forget they exist though.

Bacon and eggs are even better. 😁

reply

When they first came out they were unfrosted and they were a tasty and not-too-sweet light snack, really appealing to young males of the species. I don't think they even make the unfrosted version anymore--sad.

reply

Which species?

reply

Homo sapiens sapiens.

reply

I can just hear it now. A documentary narrated by David Attenborough. "The young male Homo sapiens sapiens sits at his breakfast table enjoying the shellac-less Pop-Tart. Over time though, the Pop-Tart evolved, developing a hardened and brightly colored icing cover akin to a phone case, and rendering it unpleasant to the Homo sapiens sapiens' tongue."

reply

To the OP:
You feel you are supposed to like them? Nonsense! You have a right to DISLIKE even HATE them like someone else has a right to LOVE them.
You seem like a young person who feels that he/she has to go with the crowd because they like something.
Be who you are. Have the courage to say you don't like something when you don't.
Worried that someone might not like you if you dislike something they like?
Well, maybe you don't need to be friends with someone like that.

reply

I seem like a young person? You are my new best friend.

reply

Whatever your age, go your own route.
Follow Robert Frost's poem "The Road Less Travelled"

reply

Pay more attention to me and you will see that going my own route is never an issue. 😉

reply

Bravo sir!

reply

Sir-ette

reply

My apologies. One never knows who he or she is truly talking to on here.

reply

No worries. Now you know.

reply

You ever had pop tarts... on weed?

Signed, million man.

reply

No. Is that the secret?

reply

Totally.

Signed, million man.

reply

I love the frosted ones...cherry, blueberry, and strawberry being my favorites. I think they make a great snack for when you're hungry but don't want to eat a large meal and pressed for time (which I usually am). I don't toast them either...I eat them "as is."

I would never end a friendship with someone because they didn't like Pop Tarts, though! 😃

reply

That's good to know because I like talkin' to ya. 😉♥️

reply

Thank you! Great to read that and right back at you! 😃
