Bugs Bunny.

Would you be interested in my 12-week course entitled "Basic information about what things are?"

reply

Are you saying that Bugs Bunny is gross?

What kind of animal are you? I thought you were a combination of fruits.

reply

Rabbits are not insects. That is covered in Week 2, right after four of the same fruit are not a combination of fruits.

Try again.

reply

But the title says Bugs that aren't gross.

Clearly mobster Bugsy Siegel was gross but Bugs Bunny is adorable.

I've never laughed so much at a post that might have just given me a computer virus.

reply

You're funny, I give you that.
Your creativity how you manage to turn words around is outstanding.

The Maybug, also known as Maybeetle or doodlebug or cockchafer is a bug people in northern Europe love seeing because its appearance indicates the beginning of the comfortably warm time of the year.

reply

I think I'd go by Maybug if my given name was cockchafer, too.

Edited later after you probably won't see it to add: I would call your bug "mildly yucky".

Butterflies πŸ¦‹

reply

Butterflies are the beautifullest. The least gross of all insects.

reply

Yep. I like things like butterflies embroidered or printed on one's clothes, or printed on book covers, or a pretty model you can put on your desk, photos, things like that. I've also seen cute photos of things like those beautiful blue ones resting on the nose of a smiling person.

reply

I have a t-shirt with a butterfly on it that says "antisocial butterfly". No joke.

reply

Hehehe, how funny ;)

I didn't give ants a lot of thought until now but I guess they're not gross unless they're crawling all over that food item that you really wanted for lunch. Just moseying along down the sidewalk though they're actually pretty cute, and very industrious, too. They build their own homes! (Ignoring the fact that they look like baked mud turd piles.)

reply

I don't mind ants either, unless they're in my house looking for water or food. Then out comes the Raid and the ant traps.

I've always wanted one of those! And it is definitely not gross.

reply

Butterflies. They are sooo pretty, particularly those blue ones.

If you love butterflies plant some lantana in your yard. Then sit back and relax and enjoy watching the butterflies (and hummingbirds) flock to it.

When I was in second grade, my school had a big project to build a butterfly garden in the back, facing the playground. Each class in the school volunteered to plant a flower that attracted butterflies in the garden, and we ended up with a very nice place to hang out at during recess. It's still there, too, all these years later.

Praying mantis.

Something about them is captivating. There's something there when you look them in the eyes and they look back you.

Speaking of which, I photographed one this year first mounted on it's mate and then shortly after got a picture with the mate still mounted but decapitated. Shortly after that, I found an egg sack nearby and it's still there in wait until it warms in the spring and the micro mantis babies start hatching. I check it every day and can't wait to get pictures of a full life cycle.

reply

Praying mantises are the T-Rexes of the insect world. They're bada$$ and beautiful and downright awe-inspiring.

reply

Well said! There's nothing else that I am more thrilled to find in my garden.

reply

Honeybees

reply

Another great answer! There are lots of insects that are not gross at all, and as someone who eats honey on my English muffins every morning these days, I'm very thankful for their service.

Apparently honey is very good for you. Honeybees are our friends. 🐝
