Recommend me a movie that has theme of self sacrifice.

Looking for a movie that has strong themes of self sacrifice. Self-sacrifice preferably by male protagonist. Brownie points if it's for a sibling. Negative points if it's for a lover.

Hell or High Water from 2016.

Do you have relationship problems or something?

reply

No, why?

reply

Based on some of what you wrote in this thread, and the other one asking about "alpha male" movies, I wonder if your view on relationships has been tainted somehow. Also, your view on manhood seems a bit self-indulgent. Like a sort of redpill/mgtow philosophy.

reply

You people are absolutely insane.

reply

Who are "you people", and why are we incorrect?

reply

You tell me. Tell me something about yourself.

reply

I don't let the media or tiktok turn me against my fellow humans on the lines of race, gender, politics, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

This seems like a big stretch to be honest. The OP simply asked a legitimate movie question and in many years of interacting with him or her has never expressed any ‘macho man’ agenda.

If someone asked for movies about female empowerment would that make them an angry man-hating feminist?

reply

Well, if it was the kind of empowerment like "sexual liberation", doing whatever she wants without accountability or self-restraint, thirst trapping and being a "boss bitch", and P.S. if a woman sacrifices anything for her man it's an "ick"... then yes, that would sound equally dysfunctional, immature and self-destructive. I'm not pretending to know OP, I'm legitimately asking.

reply

Ok.
The OP was also asking a legit question ✌️

reply

sorry to disappoint you but no. These are just questions based on what kind of movie I want to watch based on my mood on that day. A lot of people love serial killer movies.. doesn't mean they have serial killer traits or tendencies.
Have you ever wondered what would it be like to live a certain way? Or what goes on in the mind of a man who is in prison? Or what it is like to climb Mount Everest? Movies are a way to live vicariously.

William Wallace in Braveheart gave it all for the cause of Scottish autonomy.

Russel Casse (Randy Quaid) kamikazeed the mother ship in Independence Day.

Travis Bickle got shot up and possibly killed in Taxi Driver to save a young prostitute from 'the life.'

* there must be scores of movies with a similar theme but that's all that I could think of immediately.

It's a Wonderful Life

The Mighty (1998) comes to mind.
