I don't really follow celeb news. What's the deal with his kids dropping his last name? What did he do to them?
Assume he's had no contact with them or something?
Didn't Jolie accuse him of being abusive? I'm not sure about the details. I know they had an ugly custody battle.

He's probably in a tough spot, having not been primary custodian since the divorce. And maybe he is, as at least one of his kids say, an a-hole.
Who knows ? He did adopt them when he didn't have to. This will all hopefully work itself as the kids grow up, are able to establish their own relationships w/ their parents independently. Or not.
From what I've read he's barely been in their lives at all since the time he got very drunk on a plane and attacked Angelina. That lead to their divorce and the kids have all seemingly sided with Angelina and want nothing to do with Brad. His eldest (adopted) son had a social media post calling him an asshole and (if I remember correctly) stating that eventually the whole world will know the truth about him being a scumbag.
Brad himself has admitted he had a drinking problem. It doesn't take much guessing to think he had previous with being a drunken asshole to his wife and kids and they've all distanced themselves from him because of it.
I bet he has his own side of the story. Shelling out big bucks to support these kids he adopted, and them talking shit about him publicly. I can imagine he doesn't go where he's not welcome.

Hard to say what's really going on. Pitt doesn't talk about it. Maybe he was as bad as they are saying, or maybe he's staying quiet because he doesn't want to bring any more attention to his family problems.
I was following some internet drama a few months ago between this twentysomething woman with a little bit of a following and her dad. She had told the world her dad pretty much abandoned his family in order to pursue some obsession with breakdancing he had. That's the way she made it sound.
Dad decided to do his own video telling his side of the story, saying that his wife actually moved to another state, he hadn't abandoned them, and he eventually moved to be closer to them when he could afford it. He also supported his kids and his ex wife very well once his business became successful and completely paid for their college educations. He had receipts for all this. He blamed it on his ex wife poisoning their minds by constantly telling them he was a terrible person, but I think the daughter also liked having this story to tell about surviving being abandoned by her dad and her mom being this struggling single mom.
