Halloween is definitely one that would be really high on my times watched list also. I had to be around 8 years old when they started running the trailer on HBO, at least I think it was HBO. It would scare me so bad I would run out of the room when it came on. A couple of years later it was one of the VHS tapes that was in my parents collection, and there’s no way I could count how many times I watched it. I’m pretty sure they recorded it off HBO, and if I remember correctly, the eye holes in Michael’s mask were like slits and reduced what the viewer could see during the sequence in the beginning when he killed his sister. Many years later I was amazed when I rented the theatrical version and the eye holes in the mask were round and you could see everything.
Does anyone else remember HBO showing this censored version?
I'm a fair bit younger than you pal but I saw Halloween on television here in the UK on halloween night back when I was 10 years old. It scared the pants off me, I clung to a bible whilst watching it. I got it on DVD within a year of seeing it and there were points in my early teens that I watched it seemingly every day. I have an annual tradition of watching it on halloween night, a tradition which I've kept up for 20 years now.
It'll always be my most watched movie due to those reasons, it's too far ahead of the others and given it's a guarantee that I'll watch it at least once per year no movie stands a chance to catch up to it.
