Was the 90s the golden age of cinema?

The '90s was a great decade for filmmaking, with its invasion of indie auteurs. It almost felt like another movement akin to '70s American cinema. Just think of all the great filmmakers that emerged this decade: Tarantino, PTA, Soderbergh, Fincher, Anderson, Payne, Linklater, just to name a few.
Do you agree ?

The 90s was also a super dangerous decade for aspiring actors and actresses. Some many came to LA to make it only to end up on the casting couch, swallow sperm on Hollywood boulevard or shooting dope in a DTLA run down hotel. There was so much fucking going on in the 90s I would deem the 90s the golden age of the casting couch. Even boys/men had to give blowjobs and open up for anal sex to be considered for parts.

Hollywood's been like that since Day 1. Recent productions like Euphoria/the milking Sydney Sweney's naked body for all it's worth, that show with Lily Rose Depp, and No Hard Feelings all indicate things haven't changed that much

One thinks the 1970s were better.

However, lets not discount the 1990s. Off the top of my head......

"Shawshank Redemption"
"Good Will Hunting"
"Saving Private Ryan"
"Unforgiven"
"SIlence of the Lambs"

There you go - 5 top shelf flicks from the 1990s. It was a very good decade for cinema.

80s was the last golden age easy.

70's only had a handful of hits
90s was ok , but it wasnt the 80s

I think it was due to VHS arriving - kind of broadened the spectrum

I would rank the 70's as the Golden Age of Cinema.

Born in '63, so obviously biased.

The Godfather (Parts 1 & 2)
Rocky
Star Wars
Network
The Deer Hunter
Taxi Driver
Apocalypse Now
Animal House
Vanishing Point
One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest

......and on & on, etc etc😎

90s had some great movies, quite a few actually, but the 70s was the best decade in cinema history.
