When do you put up your Christmas tree
1st December.
shareChristmas decorations start going up the day after Thanksgiving.
shareUsually on the day after Thanksgiving
shareA few days before Christmas, but the 23rd at the latest. When I was very young ( 5/6/7 y/0 ) we decorated the tree on Christmas Eve. I remember my parents saying that putting up a tree before December was "too tacky".
We'd buy the tree maybe the first week of December and leave it trussed up in the garage, but bring it in the house and untie it and let the boughs hang around a week before the 25th.
One week before Christmas.
shareI love hearing Americans say after Thanksgiving. That's October to me.
shareThe American retailers begin in October or earlier. The two big warehouse club stores in my area (Costco and Sam's Club) have an aisle set up for selling "Christmas" decorations starting in mid-September.
shareI think there's a difference between stores advertising early and putting up your tree early.
shareDecember 1. This is also the date when I begin watching Christmas movies and specials, and begin listening to the seasonal music.
Any time before the 1st is too early, and it cheapens the experience of this special time of year. I've overheard people in December saying that they will be glad when Christmas is over. How sad.
I don't have a specific date. I put it up when I feel like it. I like to keep my decorations up for awhile as it's a lot of effort to decorate. Also, it's getting dark before 5pm these days here and it's nice to have a little brightness in the house.
shareI don't actually put up a tree but I start randomly putting up Christmas decorations throughout November and December.
