Do you still watch ANY cop shows?

If not, what was your last one?

I was at a friends house recently & one of his relatives was watching CSI. Apparently, they brought it back. Same with Criminal Minds.

Then I realised, No one in my friends group, irl or online, watches cop shows anymore. Except for the older generation, the genre is "dead"

I grew up on 'em. My teen years were dominated by Cop Shows. Like every network had some. I used to watch all THREE CSI shows, NCIS, Castle, Numbers, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, Without a trace, Bones, The District & The Closer just to name some.

You know how Superhero content is everywhere, that was basically the case for cop shows. They over-saturated the market & I got burnt out by the early 2010s.

I think the last one I watched was Bosch but I didn't even get to finish it.

I only watched the movie (the first one) but never actually got around to watching the show

Nothing current production but I watch Dragnet (1967 series) just about every morning. Sometimes Adam-12 (1968 series) in the afternoon.

I don’t recall any coming up in conversation with youngsters lately, fwiw, but I am usually well behind on what is current and popular; have been most of my life, though. Recently did a second viewing of Justified, and tend to revisit The Wire every so often. Gen X.

reply

Justified is one of my favorite shows of all time. Looking forward to the return of Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens

The Wire has been on my list for years now. Hopefully, this is the year that I finally watch it.

reply

Funny, the new series wasn’t even the reason for the rewatch. I just got the urge to revisit that world. Will def check it out, though; fingers crossed…

RE: The Wire, one thing I’d say to a first-timer: the show isn’t a “case of the week” type. It tells its stories over seasons and its fundamental themes over the whole show run. I almost bailed after two episodes my first time. So glad I didn’t. Give it three, even four to introduce the characters, their relationships, the broad plot dynamics and you’ll be hooked. Oh, and a lot of Baltimore hood slang [and cop technical jargon] is used in some scenes, so I found subtitles and one of many on line glossaries helpful. YMMV. May you find it as brilliant as I did.

[edit] Oh, and it was originally shot and aired in 4:3, so if you care about OAR, try and find a stream in such or a DVD, if you can stand pillarboxes.

reply

No, not in years, I especially avoid the network stuff.

The last really terrific cop show I binged was The Wire, but that was some years ago.

reply

The last one was Castle, which was actually also one of the last new shows I watched.

Does policeactivity count?
