What did you watch this week fam? (01/15-01/21)CLOSED

My week:

Yesterday (2019 DVD): Right off the first minutes of this movie I knew I was gonna love it but then again, Danny Boyle only made 2 movies I didn’t love. One minor thing bothered me with this film and it’s the fact that when he wakes up at the hospital, he does three beetle references inside what looks like one afternoon when they could’ve just kept the third one which was the song Yesterday. It took away from the natural of it. Otherwise, the story is great and fun, the cinematography is top notch, the soundtrack is on point and the cast is terrific. It was very funny, charming and smart, if a little corny at times. I am a pretty big Beatles fan, I am glad I bought it. I’d rate the first hour 8 and the second 7. My rating: 7.5/10

Valerian and the city of a thousand planets (2017 DVD): The cinematography, special FX, settings and costumes were all way above my expectations. The scene where he runs through walls was a 10/10. As for the pole dancing scene, let’s say it overstayed its welcome. The story was alright, as was the cast. I see lots of complaints about the two leads and although I see where they’re all coming from, I personally enjoy those two actors, especially DeHann who starred in a favourite of mine; Two lovers and a bear. The weakest aspect was the dialogues. It was sometimes corny or immature. My rating: 7/10

Outlaws and angels (2016 tubi): I think they made the best with what they had to work with and the end result of this gritty western is of respectable quality. I applaud everyone’s effort in making this a slick, bloody and wicked ride. I it was surprisingly unpredictable genuine and I truly enjoyed it. 7.5/10

Punk’d S2 (2021 Roku): I enjoyed season one and the short length format but now, after watching LOTS of Greg Guillotin on YouTube, these pranks were WAF! (WeakAsFuck). My rating: 5/10

The Reader (2009) -first time seeing it. can't argue with the performances. i can see why some people would get upset with the false equivalency in this movie. 7/10

Frozen River (2008) - one of those small movies that got oscar buzz back in 2009. not much has changed on the mohawk reserve since this movie was released. 6.5/10

The Dark Past (1949) - another film noir i never heard of. this one has a young william holden before he became a star/ an interesting look at psychology. lee j coob was good as the police psychiatrist. 6.5/10

The Serpent Queen (2022.) A historical soap opera about Catherine De Medici and intrigue and treachery in the French court in the 16th (?) Century. I liked it 6/10.

White Lines (2020) A woman from UK travels to Ibiza Spain to find out what happened to her brother who disappeared 20 years prior. Good characters and stories and good looking actors/actresses 7/10.

Requirements To Be A Normal Person (2015) Young woman decides she is not "normal" and decides to make a list and change her life behaviors, and meets a young man in a similar predicament. Nice story 7/10 (almost completely Spanish)

None from yours - sorry StoneKeeper

My week:

An American Tail (1986): Heartwarming film about a cute mouse who comes to USA from Russia with family but gets separated from them and try relocate them while trying to survive in a new country. Don Bluth prove again he know how to direct sweet films with sympathetic main character. As a grown man the movie still make me cry at some parts, I guess it's a combination of the story itself, Fievel and the historical context. The animation amazing, the songs added a lot to the story (if not Take My Breath Away, Somewhere Out There" won easily). 9/10

Jeepers Creepers Reborn 2022. 2/10. I didn't believe it could be as bad as the 2.5 rating on IMDB, but this movie proved me wrong. Definitely the worst movie I've seen this year

Yikes

How you're doing, scheetje of mine?!😘

Movies

-Terror Train (2022)
I was checking out Tubi and came across this little gem. Well, not exactly. It's a totally unnecessary and too similar remake of the 1980 horror movie with a little Gen Z wokeness added. Mostly boring, not so bad it's good. I'm sure Allaby will love it.

TV Series

-Scooby Doo, Where Are You! - Season 1
While I was checking out Tubi, I came across this show. And with the abomination called Velma being released recently, I was in the mood to watch this again. What can I say? It's a true classic and just fun. And no, Velma did not seem gay, she actually seemed to be a little into Shaggy.

-Road to Avonlea - marathon
I used to watch this Canadian show back in the day. Some Christian channel is showing daily reruns, so I thought, why not?

-The Bold and the Beautiful - marathon of very old episodes

Hi beautiful scheetje! (What a neat little word!)

Terror train: I have difficulties telling if you actually liked it or not, I will venture a guess and see you would rate it 5/10. ?

Road to Avonlea : I had totally forgotten this existed!! I never watched it per se but I saw it play on Tv a million times.

It's a cute word. Did you look up its meaning?😉

Terror Train wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but it was just completely useless and boring. When it did its own thing and didn't follow the original it didn't make any sense and was just bad. A sort of direct-to-video quality. This weekend I watched Terror Train 2, I'll discuss that in the next thread.😁

Sure did!
