Pure Imagination vs The Rainbow Connection

Which is your favourite 70s family film original song?

This from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory

or this from The Muppet Movie

For me it’s Kermit for the win.

reply

Agree, Kermit👍

😊

I love the Muppets, but Pure Imagination is an awesome song and wins for me.

reply

I must admit I do love both songs but I watched The Muppet Movie so many times as a kid, there was a time I could recite it word for word 😆 and Rainbow Connection was probably my favourite song as a young boy.

They just don’t write them like those two anymore.

reply

Same.

That imagination song is totally forgettable. I kept waiting for a catchy chorus or a hook of some sort BUT I got nothing. It's just elevator music with a mediocre singer emitting verbal vomit. I will say that Gene Wilder's vocals were much better than Kermit's vocals. Rainbow Connection is a song that people will want to sing in the shower or in the car. The song is perfect and I even like it in spite of Kermit's lousy vocals.

The vocal delivery on this version by The Carpenters might be more pleasing for you:

I like them both but Rainbow wins.

Rainbow Connection! Kermit is teh Frog.

the lovers, the dreamers, and me

Kermit

reply

Kermit! And Kermie's version is the only one worth listening to.

reply

So wrong. Willie, for the win: https://youtu.be/hS23wm99YY4

reply

Willie's is ok, but I prefer Kerm's. It's his signature song.

reply

Kermie's voice has a mix of sadness and wonderment that just brings the song to life.

reply

*bump…this deserves more attention, two grand songs from two fine movies…c’mon!
