I picked up some new used dvds today

I got some used dvds today. I got:

The Cardinal (2 disc special edition)
The One (special edition)
Serenity (2 disc collector's edition)
Serpico
Sexy Beast
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (special collector's edition)

Anyone else pick up any movies lately?

reply

I don't buy movies anymore since streaming became available but I do see the appeal

Serpico is a great movie (the book was quite good too!) and Sexy Beast was terrific 👍

reply

Serpico is probably my favorite of your recent haul. 👍

I checked EBay and I have one coming in today called What Have You Done to Solange (1972) that has taken months to deliver for some reason. It’s a fine giallo that is also the first film acting role for Camille Keaton.

I haven’t picked up much good lately from resale stores as far as movies. I may need to hit some different spots.

This morning I ordered two Jimmy Stewart films from Amazon.
They are ...
No Highway In the Sky (1951) - Blu-ray
The Spirit of St. Louis (1957) - DVD

I love Serenity and I want to see Serpico, even though I am not exactly a fan of Pacino and want to see Sky Captain, a film I have heard such vastly different opinions about.

I picked up:
The Six Million Dollar Man Season 1
Hogan's Heroes Season 3
Big Fish
The Middle Season 1

In spite of streaming, I still prefer to collect movies-- mainly because most of what I watch is either old or niche.

I took advantage of a Kino Lorber sale and got copies of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, the 1917 version of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and Zaza (a silent comedy from 1923). The latter two are blind buys, but Taking... is one of my faves from the 1970s.

Cool. I like Kino Lorber. They put out some good stuff.

I got these Fulci features in the mail off EBay today. I think I’ll start with Murderock tonight. I have a few more titles coming in soon.

Cool. Enjoy!

It’s always so fun getting movies in the mail, but not quite as great as finding them cheaper at resale stores. 😀

reply

I might go out and got some more movies this weekend.

Are your stops at resale shops?

reply

Sometimes. There is one store called The Beat Goes On that I like for used movies and there are a couple stores in the mall for new movies, Cinema1 and Sunrise Records.

reply

The Beat Goes On sounds like a neat place. I wish that had more places like that near me.
