shareInteresting question and problem. But first you have DEFINE key elements of what constitutes a "woke" movie.
The movie that has the most elements could be dubbed the "wokest" movie.
Some elements of a woke movie.
1. Celebrates Female empowerment/strength/intelligence. The main female character should have no character flaws.
2. A super diverse cast. Diversity in sexuality, race, and the disabled.
3. More white male bad guys than good guys in the movie. (Fewer white good guys the better)
4. White males will play subservient role in the movie. The more grovelling the role, the better.
5. A interracial relationship or a bisexual relationship should be in the movie. A super bonus if it's a handicap person getting it on.
6. A super evil cooperation run by a white male that is killing the environment should be in the movie.
I just rewatched Rogue One :A Star Wars Story (which I thought was a good btw)
#1,#2,#3and #6 definitely apply (substitute the Death Star for a evil cooperation).
#4 and #5 do not.
After the first test of the Death Star cannon.
Every person in the room was a white male!

The film had no white male action heroes. All the hero's in the film come from diverse backgrounds.
Rogue One was a fine movie, it had a WWII vibe to it
I don't recall any pandering, just espionage, shootouts and a great tragic finale
No real overt pandering, just that all the baddies were white males. Had a strong female lead, a very diverse hero cast with no whites (also with a blindman). So it's kinda subconscious thing, white male bad.
I thought it was a good movie also.
It may be my favorite SW film after Empire
As far as all the bad guys being white men they do say a good picture is only as good as the villain so who really cares about 'identity' stuff when you have cool heroes and some dastardly bad guysπ
Rogue One actually had me on the edge of my seat and I still found it exciting when I did the Star Wars marathon with my daughter recently.
shareEvery movie these days.
shareThat one where there was a white bad guy and there was that woman with a gun, and, get this, the main character was black π±. I think there was also a homo who I didnβt get to laugh at either!
I tell you as the tough guy I am it made me almost pee my frilly little panties right there in theatre and I just had to get right on the internet and cry about it for days.
πI LOVE YOU MORE THAN MOST.

shareI just came to laugh at some of the comments here, which I did, but I got called out so hard. I may suck and be lame, but I don't need to be reminded.
shareThis is a very funny thread, if nothing else we've learned that MC peeps have strong opinions and a lot of them are silly jokers...always a plus!
PS: somehow we've both been 'around the block' here for years but I don't recall you being sucky or lame...Keep doing you, plenty of room for convo and opinionsπ
Thanks, I will and same to you. I most definitely am lame and sucky, but I'm neither ashamed nor proud of it. I've just accepted it.
shareFrancois Truffaut's The Bride Wore Black is one of the earliest woke films I can ever think of, and a pretty shitty one at that. It's like Kill Bill, but if the villains were all pervy, horndog men who can't think of anything other than which hole they want to stick their dick into. And yet, the movie doesn't even make a good case for why they deserve to be killed, given that the crime they committed wasn't even done on purpose. The movie pretty much expects you to hate them on the basis of them liking pussy alone.
Not the answer you probably expected, but one that I feel is justified.
What exactly is wrong with you?
shareKOWALSKI is hearing impaired (I think?) so he tends to shoutπ
He'll grow on you
I liked him at first but he's progressively become more and more of a turn-off to me.
shareI quite like him, we bust on each other sometimes and he's always a sport about it
To each their own I guess, the guy cracks me up
