Interesting. I wonder how many people voted who were around in 1992 as compared to people born after 92?

With the exception of Mighty Ducks which I've never seen and Reservoir Dogs which I dislike, I prefer the 2021 list.

Waynes World, Barman Returns, Sister Act and Home Alone 2 would be very dated now too.

reply

Reservoir Dogs is actually the best movie of that year. Aladdin should also be in that top 10. Mighty Ducks at number 1 is utterly ridiculous.

reply

I'll have to disagree I thought it was awful. Still do.

I don't get Mighty Ducks even being in the top 10.

reply

Awful??? 😳 Man, it's one of the best films ever!

reply

If you say so, but then I'm yet to make it through Pulp Fiction too so I'm not a fan of that style of movie.

reply

Pulp Fiction is great as well, although a little bit too long-winded.

reply

Lol long winded we agree on and just too wrapped up in it's own style. Not a fan of QT in general.

reply

His first 3 films are great, then it went downwards really fast. Always the same over-the-top, gimmicky formula.

reply

😮...WE AGREE...RESERVOIR DOGS IS THE BEST FILM OF THE YEAR BY FAR...AND ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES...I OWN 17 FORMAT/ARTWORK VARIATIONS OF THE FILM.

reply

I have a theory on that.

IMBD is probably mostly used by Millennials, more so that GenX, Boomers or GenZ.

Millennials were just kids when that movie (Ducks) came out. Now they have kids of their own and want to watch and share a good kids film that they watched when they were young.

I completed 1987, and Masters of the Universe was in the top 10 in popular, which supports the theory.

reply

So in 20 years A Few Good Men went from #7 to #6. So in 100 years they will be #1 as people will will not know what hockey is and they will still appreciate a buxom woman in a tight military uniform.

reply

👍

reply

where did you get list

reply

IMBD for both.

reply

What about the likes of The Player, Man Bites Dog, Benny's Video, Bad Lieutenant, Tokyo Decadence, Triple Cross, Lethal Weapon 3, Unforgiven, etc?

reply

I'm going to continue this a little better...I just did 1987.

Just doing top 10 for each.

I was somewhat surprised when I saw that I did not reply to this thread when it was originally posted three months ago.
Hmm, maybe that's some sort of weird holdover effect from the fact that on August 24th of 1992, Hurricane Andrew came to town and ripped the shit out of south Miami-Dade County.
All the movie theaters were destroyed and I didn't get cable TV back until mid-November.

Anyway, my favorite films from 1992, in alphabetical order, were ...
(*an asterisk indicates that I own the film on either DVD or Blu-ray)
Basic Instinct
Cool World
The Cutting Edge*
A Few Good Men
The Last of the Mohicans* - my favorite film of the year
A League of Their Own
Leap of Faith*
The Lover*
Mr. Baseball*
My Cousin Vinny
Passenger 57
Patriot Games
Scent of a Woman
Shining Through
Singles*
A Stranger Among Us
Under Siege
White Men Can't Jump
So of the 18 films listed, I own 6 on DVD or Blu-ray.

No problems Ckid...the posts move pretty fast. A single post can become buried quick. I will mostly respond to replys approx 12hr after my OP to reboot the thread.
