just got a clearstream 40 mile antenna for my apartment
and it only found 6 new channels on top of the 14 I had with the crappy antenna.
I got 21 freaking channels. I thought I was supposed to have like 100 channels . WTF

A Firestick, decent internet connection and several apps is a good plan dude
Antenna tech is like Prairie Schooner making, impressive but pretty old school
About A hundred bucks a month, there is NO shortage of stuff to watch with a Firestick (the remote devours batteries and apps get randomly dropped for no reason sometimes but overall it's better than those Cable bastards!)
40 miles? You should pick up space aliens with one that size!
shareIf I move it to the other wall near by and scan I get some weird channels but I don't get the VHF channels I want. right now I got 33 channels , some are iffy but I don't get the other weird channels.
my remote is super basic, roku, no freaking numbers I can punch in, I got to move the antenna keep rescanning for different channels.
everything is so hard lined into the internet it bothers me. I like to shut things down and chill with my antenna.
Heck, I've got a 60+ mile one and it barely gets any channels. It all depends on the terrain and trees where you live.
shareand I still don't get CBS. I get some VHF stuff though I think....
shareI agree. It also depends on how far you are from the nearest broadcasting location. I suspect I'd need a long-distance antenna of 100 miles to get anything.
shareI tried one of those antennas and had the same problems.
I'm guessing the best solution would be an outdoor antenna mounted on the roof but that wouldn't be permitted in an apartment building. You would also need to be able to change the direction of it if you are in a remote area where signals are coming from all directions. It would be like a throw-back to the old rotary antennas of the 1970s and earlier.
I don't know if your apartment has a balcony where you could try setting it up outside. Depending upon what direction the signals are coming from, this may or may not work.
Here's some examples of outdoor antennas you may wish to check out just for the sake of curiosity:

get firestick and a free app called locast it will get you local stations
sharethanks
shareLOL I am streaming and the picture is out of sink of the audio or something.
shareTry the antenna in different places around the apartment. You may find a "sweet spot" that gets you some more or different channels.
shareOUTDOORS OR BUST...I HAVE ONE...IT WORKS WELL AND BRINGS IN ABOUT 40 CHANNELS...BUT THE ONLY ONES WORTH HAVING ARE THE OUTDOOR MODELS,MOUNTED OUTDOORS.
