I hate that you can't just talk about Star Wars anymore

A lot of my internet life revolves around discussion of TV and movies. A huge part of that USED TO be talking about Star Wars. I loved discussing the franchise. But something happened in recent years. Discussions went away. Yelling and trolling took over. Even during the prequel era, people might have hated or "been divided" over those movies, but you could still discuss the universe. But Lucas loyalists who hate the new movies just ruin everything now. You try to discuss one of the movies and they just come flying into the room with some "diSnEy StAr WaRs derp derp" crap. Conversation is killed immediately. Even when it's something they approve of, like The Mandalorian, they sidetrack it. "FaVrEaU and FiLoNi SaVeD tHe FRanChise!" I don't want to talk about "the franchise", I want to talk about whatever in-movie question or issue I brought up. It's impossible to just talk about the series anymore.

It's easy to "just talk about Star Wars." Watch this:

I only think 4, 5, Gendy Wars, and Mandalorian are good. 6 is OK and 1 has moments. 7 is underrated but still bad. R1 is overrated and populated with uninteresting and unlikable characters, D+. The rest get an F from me.

It's difficult to be wrong twice in the same statement, but you manage to do it. It's got a 93% and 86% at RT. That's some of the highest in the entire franchise. It's got a 7.9 at IMDB. It's got an 80% at Metacritic, which is insane. Almost everythinghas a bad score at Metacritic. It's neither underrated OR bad, people LIKE this movie.

Oh sorry. I didn't consult the Temple Priests. Everything I hear in person and online seems to be along the lines of 85% "all ST are pure shit" and 15% "some or all ST are great." Maybe I live and walk online in a bubble.

So you like 7? I sorta do. It sucks but I liked it more than the PT if only for the feel and some small parts.

I like 7 a lot. I like the ST overall, but am not afraid to say what I don't dislike about it.

I don't like the PT, though I think TPM actually ended being the best one.

Star Wars, Marvel and DC boards are loaded with too many obsessive oddballs and angry trolls for the most part
I rarely post on those though I thought most of them were entertaining movies

I feel like you can. Boards here seem to have plenty of discussion about all the SW films, some actual decent discussion and others bad. I guess there is more venting than actual discussion so you do have to look for it. I remember the IMDB boards when the prequels came out and fans were just as loud and outspoken about opinions as they are now. I don't really see much of a difference. Most people only started to like the prequels years after they were released. Maybe because there is more content now than ever before that it seems like there is more people complaining? Not sure.

It's kind of funny you talk about trolling, but refer to people who have a difference of opinion as Lucas loyalists. Great term though, had me laughing. So are those that love the sequels Abram loyalists or Kathleen Kennedy loyalists?

Rogue One was good, Mandalorian was great. Eps 7,8,9 aren't even Star Wars to me. I think of them as expensive fan films.
