Barbara Streisand - Woman In Love https://youtu.be/CzQPJy8Q6qE

You just jumped to my 3rd favorite person on this site:) https://youtu.be/0EcTOoEp9TM

reply

Yeah, I like that one too. The Bee Gees can make even Babs cool.

there are a lot of 70s easily listening tracks i really love. they aren't necessarily sappy, by the definition of that word maybe, but they are definitely wimpy. take sailing by christopher cross. i love it. & there are about a dozen carpenters songs that can make me swoon if i'm in the right mindset.

here's another great example - whenever i call you friend by (god, i'm almost gonna be sick typing this) kenny fucking loggins. that song is awesome.

One of my favorites but Andys , woman in love...unless he's been stalking me and knows my favorite songs, thats an amazing pick.

I was so mad, Christmas 2019, Barry was doing a show in Los Angeles "Christmas With Barry Manilow" or something and I really wanted to go and my wife and teenagers didn't want to go. I was like "Barry Manilow is Jewish and doing a Christmas show - when are we going to have another chance?"

Weekend In New England is the best...

Make It With You - Bread https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4R93xnKink

reply

Very nice. I own at least 4 songs by Bread.

reply

LOL... I cringe now at the memory how much our clique listened to these guys at parties back in the 70s.

One of my karaoke go-to's is Everything I Own for a joke. I'll really lean into the melancholia and depression until my voice is cracking and my voice is just short of sobbing. Always get laughs...

reply

I have selected just for you...a fabulous medley of Bread songs by the great Jack Jones ('Love Boat Theme' singer)

jack jones was the man

reply

The cheese factor is strong with this one.

This reminds of Bill Murray doing his Nick the Lounge Singer bit on SNL.

reply

A somewhat underappreciated singer, here is something a little earlier, and I like Jack Jones better than much more famous host Andy Williams.

I remember him popping up here and there on things like old-school variety shows, sometimes on celebrity game shows. Google tells me he's still alive and
singing!

reply

Yep. Definitely an old-school singer. I don't own any Jack Jones albums, but I can't help but like him.

reply

It's the dimples. ;)

(I'm so bummed. I logged in just to participate in this thread, but you can't just "like" or "thumbs up" a post? That's terrible. This is my kind of thread!)

Yah, this message board lacks a lot of features such as a search function. OTOH there is something to be said for keeping it simple.

Years ago when I participated on The Straight Dope message board, there was a poster Sue_Duhnym

Some of us (including me) though it was Sue done him (being naughty). I felt pretty dumb when someone pointed out it was pseudonym
