I literally forgot an entire movie in 20 months!

I'm talking about Pet Cemetery, 2019.

I saw it in the cinema. I remember I used my loyalty points for it. I remember where I sat. I remember that my brother sneaked in.

The movie? I literally forgot everything about it.

As I watched it today on netflix it came back. I knew I'd seen it before. But I had no idea what was going to happen next.

I'm actually concerned!

Weird to remember the specifics of seeing the movie but not the actual movie.

This ever happen to you?

reply

That happened to me with The Boy. I swore I had never watched it even though people were saying I had. I was half way through before I realized they were right.
My mind had blocked that dumb shit out.

reply

This happens to me all the time. I think it's sign that I watch too many movies.

reply

It's nothing. If a movie is bad, you're gonna mentally drop it.

But just thing about all of the movies you remember, because they were damn good.

reply

Yeah it wasn't a very good movie. But I totally forgot what the cemetery is. The entire premise.

I watched "The Machine", with Caity Lotz, years ago. It came on recently. I was halfway through the damn movie before I saw a scene that trigged my memory of having seen it before. All of the sudden the movie came back to me. Made me wonder why the hell I forgot it.

reply

It does help enjoy the movie on 2nd viewings.

I think with Pet Cementry, I didn't like it so it got erased.

When I've smoked weed before watching a movie, it has.

reply

That happened to me the first time I watched The Phantom Menace. I thought the movie made no sense.

I watched it again without weed. I didn't change my mind.

It sounds like a joke, but I'm completely serious. πŸ˜…

reply

If anything, weed makes a good film even better.

Happens to me all the time, back when I was in my twenties, I could remember the exact name of the films and the year they were released, but now... A film has to be really good to make an impression on me. Otherwise, my brain just decides is not worth remembering. I think it has to do with the gigantic amount of unnecessary information we are being exposed to everyday.

reply

Happens to me a lot, especially watching them on Netflix or another streaming service.

reply

I can't remember the film but I saw one that didn't even register with me and I came here to post a message about it only to find I'd written one 18 months earlier!

I must have been on the wine the first time round πŸ˜„

reply

I did that once too. I don't think I forgot I had seen it but went to write the same post.
