Gym closures would have affected 'functional homeless'

Those who live in their cars etc and depend on gyms for their showers each day.

reply

Do gyms let you shower without a membership? I can't see a homeless person paying for a gym membership.

reply

People who have jobs and live in their cars often have gym memberships.

reply

I FIND THAT WEIRD.

reply

You find it weird that people who have money but no home would pay to access a clean, safe place where they can shower, shave, use the bathroom etc?

reply

I FIND IT WEIRD TO HAVE MONEY AND NO HOME...YES.

reply

Some places the gym membership is more than rent

reply

Some people have wacky priorities.

reply

Bloody hell! Are the weights made of gold?

reply

Not something that happens here. Gym memberships are quite expensive here.

reply

I used to have a gym membership for only $10 a month. So I suppose it’s conceivable that someone who could no longer afford a home could still afford the membership.

reply

Fair enough, down here that price is unheard of. You are looking at over a $100 at least for a membership for a month.

reply

i have never heard of this

reply

Everyone should have a home. Under Biden they will.

reply

That would be nice.

reply

How is Biden going to provide every homeless person with a home?

reply

You already know the answer.

reply

Yes, but its a bold statement and I would like to hear the reasoning behind it.

reply

Biden = status quo

reply

What? You mean everyone in the whole wide world?

reply

I think that's one of the things the YMCA served as at one time.
Not a catch all for every down-on-their-luck person, but where some people could go to clean up.
In today's society it sounds bad, but back when we figured government might help, there were institutions that might afford a stop-gap solution. Now that government has abdicated responsibility for it's unfortunate citizens, it's impossible for charitable organizations to keep up with the flood.

reply

Probably as indoor plumbing became mainstream those places became less and less frequented.
