I hate when a movie title is someone's name.

All these titles suck equally:

John Carter
Patch Adams
Michael Clayton
Ned Kelly
Charley Varrick
Billy Elliot
Corky Romano
Harry Brown
Jerry Maguire
Bob Roberts
Barton Fink
Donnie Brasco
Alex Cross
Jack Frost
Vera Drake
Billy Madison
Wyatt Earp
Donnie Darko
John Wick
Annie Hall
Simon Birch
Charlie Bartlett
Jack Reacher

Then you have the single names:

Ray
Hanna
Anna
Rebecca
Victoria
Logan
Rambo
Amelie

These titles are so damn lazy. It's like they're trying to make a character popular. And when they use a first and last name, I can't tell if it's based on an actual person and they're expecting me to know it, or if it's one completely made up.

reply

fine for biograhies otherwise it is a bit of a cop out.

reply

You better only be talking about the Michael Keaton Jack Frost, you son of a bitch.

reply

I wasn't even thinking about the other one.

reply

You were thinking about Jack Frost but weren’t even thinking about the only one that matters? This is just getting worse and worse.

reply

I don't recall, but do they refer to him as Jack Frost in the film?

reply

It’s his name before he even gets turned into a snowman.

reply

Sorry, but then that counts.

reply

You’re being extremely unfair to one of the greatest horror films ever made. He’s a killer snowman whose human name was actually Jack Frost. There couldn’t be a better title.

reply

The Icikiller?
Snow Way Out?
Snowmaniac?
Chill Kill?

reply

I’ll only accept Frosty The Oh, no, man.

reply

I'll just leave this here...

"Lawrence of Arabia".

reply

That's a little different.

reply

It seems like the vast majority of them are from the last 25 years. Almost as if they ran out of movie titles.

reply

Well there are plenty of older one too which he has not listed many of. Disraeli, Skippy, Dodsworth, Henry V, Bulldog Drummond, Mildred Pierce, Cluny Brown, Alfie, Julia, Carrie... it’s an age-old problem, apparently!

reply

It is much better if they put an adjective or adverb in front of it like....

The Big Lebowski (1998)

Or

Get Carter (1971)

reply

Much better. There is at least something memorable and creative there.

reply

What title if not Forrest Gump then?

reply

History Through Forrest.

reply

Run, Forrest, Run

reply

Rebecca should be excused, surely, as (a) that was the name of the book and (2) she isn’t technically a character in the movie!

reply

Yes, Forrest Gump should have been called "A box of chocolates".
