A true testament to the Motown Era - there is almost no remake of a song from that period that is anywhere near as good as the original
Phil Collins - Can’t Hurry Love, an embarrassment to the Supremes original
The Locamotion- Kylie Minogue’s overproduced synthy 80’s update obviously doesn’t come close
One exception I can think of, although you could argue the remake was still part of that era -Twist and Shout by The Beatles is way better than The Isley Brothers.
Feel free to add other exceptions but on the whole I’d say this is a pretty consistent rule.
