I still haven't seen a GOT episode

Here's why: I get that it's supposedly a great show, but I'm not much into medieval material.

For example,
the only medieval film I care for (at all) is Centurion.
A friend of mine is into the medieval scene, possibly due to his middle name being Arthur, as in King.

But I digress.
Another thing I don't like doing is being into
(or watching) what everyone else is.
I guess I'm not "mainstream", and what everyone else is doing doesn't pique my interest.

I've seen maybe half of the first season. Eventually it'll all be on Netflix or dvds or some such.

Parts of 'Game of Thrones' were among the best things I have seen. For example 'The Winds of Winter' episode 10 season 6 was a masterpiece. What happened, the pacing, the music, the cinematography and the performances were magnificent. Then you had absolute turkeys like the final episode where they basically farted in everyone's face with a farcical ending.

So it's a mixed bag. The show is relentlessly dark and awful really in terms of what happens. But the look of the show. Dragons ! Living, flying, fire-breathing dragons ! And some of the actors on the show, particularly the older English actors ( like Charles Dance and Diana Rigg ) elevate the material a great deal.

I don't regret watching it and I own all but the last season on blu-ray. I will buy it one day when the price reflects more closely what it's actually worth.
