Would you take free Netflix or Amazon...
if someone volunteered their user id and password? I notice all the twenty somethings I work with share these services.

shareIf you´re American, I´d probably go with Netflix since they have a pretty decent collection.
shareI think I'd pick Netflix, not because of a better selection, but from what I've noticed there are not separate profiles on Amazon and it could get annoying if you're both watching the same show.
shareI guess I'd take Amazon but that's only because my phone provider already gives me free Netflix.
shareI was offered free Netflix by a friend. I dismissed it.
shareAmazon.
shareI was once given both, and there isn't much good out there. 90% of it is absolute shit.
shareWITH THE BACK CATALOGS AND WIDE VARIETY OF OPTIONS THEY OFFER...90% ABSOLUTE SHIT IS PATENTLY INCORRECT...I WOULD THINK THE STATEMENT..90% OF THEIR ORIGINAL CONTENT IS ABSOLUTE SHIT.. WOULD BE CLOSER TO TARGET.
sharei would add that, even if you do think 90% is garbage, given the size of the catalogues they offer, you'll still find lots & lots of things to watch.
personally, i suspect i'm only interested in about 2% of the content on netflix. i don't know that, but when i scan through, i would roughly guess i'd only consider watching 1 in 50 films i see in their library.
i just checked, and i have about 300 films in my 'mylist' queue on netflix, all of them there because they had something that piqued my interest.
seems like a good value to me.
I tend to agree.
shareyou are not a fan. 😊
sharei personally would not. simply for the fact that these services are already so cheap, and, while i generally am in favour of the occasional free lunch, i also think that it's good to pay for the things you use. not to sound like a scold, but it seems to me that you shouldn't expect people to offer a service if you're not willing to pay for it.
i just crunched my numbers for the past year - feb 26 2019 to today's date, and i found that i've watched:
177 movies on netflix
103 on shudder
182 on criterion
those are the three services i pay for (haven't made the move to amazon yet - still need to watch bojack horesman).
i believe netflix costs me $168/year, shudder $50/yr, & criterion $100/yr.
so i'm paying about $1 per film on netflix, $0.48 on shudder & $0.55 on criterion.
considering what it used to cost to rent a dvd not that long ago, that seems like a very economical offer.
so i'd say those kids ought to pony up the dough and pay for the services they're consuming!
I for the most part agree with this...sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who actually pays for all of this myself based on how many people I know that don't. I can see maybe having an arrangement with a friend where one pays for Netflix, the other for Amazon and perhaps share, especially if each person lives alone and is the only one who uses the service. Kind of like I do with books where I buy a lot on my own and then trade off with a friend who buys her own....we're each supporting an industry we use but we're also getting a bit more for a buck. But in general I like to pay for the services I use.
shareIf you don't care about newly released movies, go with Netflix. If you do want to be able to rent a movie as soon as it becomes available, go with Amazon.
Netflix doesn't rent movies. So a movie newly available to rent will be available on Amazon, not Netflix.
