Other websites you enjoy (nothing political, please)

I've been on Pogo.com for almost 20 years.

I play golf every day on wgt.com. I'm up to level 100.

didn't realize there exists a Ray Peat forum.

I used to visit his site now and then

reply

Yeah. I knew nothing of him or the Peat community/health advice/etc. until more recently.

Cool to see a "Peater" here.

Wow. That takes me back. I used to play Word Whomp all the time. Maybe I'll play it again.

Only other site I visit regularly is SitcomsOnline.com.

Liveleak

Hehe, I go on that site too from time to time, but don't like to admit it.

reply

I figure that watching car crash videos will make me a safer driver.

reply

Same here with watching dashcam videos on YouTube. Learn from others' mistakes.

reply

The Russians seem particularly egregious.

reply

I swear they have to be the worst. Always leave me shaking my head.

reply

The worst are the head-on collisions that occur on two-lane, two-way roads (one lane in each direction) with no center barrier and high (50+ mph) speed limits. No way out. From watching these videos, I grown to hate roads like that.

reply

To visit my daughter I have to drive a four-lane divided highway that still has two sections between here and there that are two-lane, no divider, about 20 miles-worth. I am always on constant alert because there are so many heavy trucks that also travel that route. It's on the state's books to improve those two sections to four-lane divided, but I expect it will be at least five years before it's done. At night I worry about hitting a deer, so at those times I'd rather not be the lead car in a pack.

reply

Now that you mention it, the deer videos may be the worst. Even re-watching it at half-speed and knowing the deer is there, you can clearly see that there is usually no way to react quickly enough.

reply

My brother, who drives a heavy truck, told me that if you're the only car on the road at night on a four-lane highway, to drive in the middle of the two lanes so that you have that extra split-second to react, regardless of which side the deer jumps from.

reply

Good thinking.

reply

We have a couple of two lane highways here that shares local traffic, vacationers and big semi's and it can be rather unnerving. And I'm surprised there aren't more deer caused collisions.

reply

Wasn't familiar with the site but I can watch videos like that all day

reply

I didn't know about it either. Bookmarked. 🙂
