A little sad, but there's supposed to be some hope and redemption at the end.

Happy belated birthday👍
Nice music, I looked this guy up and was surprised to read that these recordings were more recent than I expected
He has an 'older' country sound which is very likable
If you enjoy the Classic Country sound you should chat with Vastuntitled, he enjoys it quite a lot and has posted lots of it
Kind of a complicated subject for me.
But Dave Alvin was the songwriter and a founding member of the The Blasters, an LA roots rock band formed during the punk era. Dwight Yoakam also started around the same time, as well as a lot of other fondly remembered groups, many punk although the sound doesn't seem to have aged as well. Dave has gone on to a solo career with cult status.
This song was written by Dave. He plays guitar on the first and he and his band perform the second.

One of the better Bond themes
I like the long, swinging intro too👍
