Anyone else miss video stores?
What a great time that was
shareOh god I SO miss the video store era!!!!!
I loved it. The excitement of physically having to go there, walk in, and peruse the aisles, and choose your movies. I loved getting to know all my favorite sections and systematically checking them for anything new. I also loved the "new" section proper, and would walk around the whole thing to see what came in. I went once a week and would rent two movies.
If I liked something or found it interesting, I would always watch it twice before returning it. With streaming I will never watch something twice even if I really like it, not least because my internet service has a data cap and I have to be careful with my usage --- I now never stream anything anymore, having been burned by overage charges for movies.
I'm very much less up on the latest films since the end of the video rental store.
You only need a shelf with goodfellas on it.
shareIn 2004, there were over 9,000 Blockbuster Video stores worldwide. Now there is one:

I think the modern alternative is far superior but certainly miss them as far as nostalgia.
shareThere's still family videos around.
shareI understand the nostalgia but from a practical point of view no.
shareThere were a couple of video stores near me back in the day. They both closed down. Since I don't have cable tv I get all my dvds at the public library.
shareYes. Half the fun was going there, checking out the covers and laugh at what other people were renting.
