shareThinking of it as meditation helps. It's getting in touch with something deeper, richer and eternal inside one's self.
shareThere are many gods, and they are created in common beliefs. Because the belief can change or singularly define choices, you can perceive these gods as actual entities with a palpable effect on the world.
Just one little key concept that changes the definition of a god as a fictitious force, and I mean the scientific definition of fictitious.
Like the backward "pull" felt when a car accelerates. Its not an actual pull, so it is called a fictitious force.
Theres a better word for a derivative consequence, a word in the realm of cumulative/indirect/secondary. Can't think of it.
What really bothers me about people believing in stuff is the wars, genocide, bloodshed and terrorism that belief causes. The world would have been a better place without all these different factions clinging to their own version of "God" and what they think this god wants them to do. It's a disgrace. Religion -- ALL religions -- should be banned. But that would only cause more of the same strife in itself.

In essence the human need for control and power hoarding is at the root of this theological dyspepsia - meditation is the way to go because it is 100% internalized and requires no special dogma, institutions, nor monetary tributes. Humans tend to screw things up mightily when they pack up - just look at the lunacy of "governments" for an analog to religion. share
I stopped praying when I was a kid when I realized it was not for me. I understand that people who pray have faith in a god, but I don't believe in a god. I guess I'm an atheist.
