Highest elevation you have ever been??
For me it was Lake Louise, Alberta which is about 5200 feet above sea level. It was in July and it was freezing and I did notice the thin air just walking around. Also very beautiful.

Google says 10,300, but that's just the trailhead. Where I camped was higher. We all got altitude sickness the first night -- my boyfriend, me, and even my dog.
Luckily we'd adjusted enough the next day to not have headaches and feel nauseated, and had a good time for the rest of the trip.

We were camping in the mountains, so I guess we were climbing one :). But not mountain climbing mountain climbing.
All we did after we got there was set up the tent. No hiking. Can't imagine how bad it would have been if we'd done more than that! It was awful.
where ??
shareA place called Mosquito Flats. This doesn't exactly sound like a place anyone would want to go to, but in reality I never saw a single mosquito and very few bugs in general.
sharethey don't like the thin air.
shareWhich makes me wonder how it got its name. It's not flat either. Someone really messed up naming that place 😄
It is beautiful. There are a string of lakes connected by streams. Each one was more beautiful than the last. I wanted to keep going but we were running out of light, and it gets *very* cold there when the sun goes down.
Lake Louise is wonderful in winter as well. Shame it was cold when you were there. There are some nice hikes in the area.
Champagne Castle in the Drakensburg 3,377 m (11,079 ft)
More regular is Sunshine Village with a top elevation of 2,730 m (8,960 ft)
No clue. I've been to Switzerland, so probably somewhere in the mountains there. I know I've gone through the Gotthard tunnel, which is apparently 3,776 ft above sea level.
shareMexico City, which is around 7,390 feet above sea level.
And yes, the airport runways are the longest I have ever seen. They just keep going, and going, and going ...
