Nudity vs Gore in Horror Films

When I was younger, my mom and I would watch a lot of horror movies together. (Admittedly I was too young for that kind of content, but I think I turned out fine and I love horror now as a result.) It didn't seem to bother her that I was seeing anything really grotesque, but she'd always cover my eyes when it came to female nudity.

I don't believe I can be the only one that experienced this, so I'm curious if anyone knows why nudity was apparently a bigger concern than the gore.

Mom was the rare opposite, she didn't care if I saw nudity but strongly disliked violence and would never have allowed me to see anything gory. My parents wouldn't use profanity in front of me (mostly, occasionally dad slipped and said damn or hell). Dad wouldn't allow me to read an Elvis biography because it mentioned drug use. He didn't even let me watch the TV versions of Dirty Harry movies. Of course I used to sneak out of my room and watch late night horror movies every Friday and Saturday night, Chiller Theatre, Thriller Theater, stuff like that. They had to have known but never stopped me.
