Any recent sci-fi gems worth mentioning?

Annihilation was awesome. I'm going to check out Mute this afternoon. Still haven't seen Ex Machina. Have there been other sci-fi gems as of late worth mentioning? Putting together a binge-list.

I don't know about gems, but some ones I enjoyed recently were Tau and Ready Player One which was way better than I expected.

Ready Player One was pretty good. I think it's one of those movies that will get better with each repeated viewing, as it didn't really hit "home" with me upon first viewing. But it was a gorgeous looking film and will watch again :)

Lucy was decent.

I've been on the fence about this one. I'm just going to pull the trigger and add it to the list. Thanks for the recommendation!

Ex Machina blows Annihilation away

Alita is jaw-droppingly good, highly emotional, and the 3D is possibly the best yet.

I'll qualify "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" as a sci-fi movie, and it is just fantastic.

If you want some dumb fun, check out Pacific Rim 2. It's actually very entertaining, and a little more interesting than the first, honestly. Yes it's a cheap escapade for shutting off your brain, but the action sequences are numerous, cartoonish, heavy-hitting and a lot of fun. I was pleasantly surprised. I had no interest in seeing it and only caught it near the halfway point on Direct TV.

The Endless was excellent and is actually a sequel to "Resolution (2012)."
