What’s the most amazing place in nature you’ve been?

The Grand Canyon. Photos cannot do it justice.

Yosemite National Park

reply

That's a place I'd like to visit.

reply

The Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon parks are also very impressive.

I once drove through Yellowstone in the middle of the night on the way to the Great Northwest. You've heard of the expression, " a deer caught in the headlights? " For me it was a moose. At first I mistook it for an elk. And it wasn't a bit scared as that expression implies. Conversely, it was standing in a very dominant, regal manner on a nearby ridge as if it was posing for a picture.

reply

That's a great story. I would love to see a moose in the wild. Were you able to enjoy the park at all or was it a straight run through?

reply

Yeah, just driving through. It was a business trip and I had a deadline to meet ( which is why I was still driving in the middle of the night). Passing through Yellowstone was a perk of the trip. I remember driving by some hot springs also but the moose sighting was the highlight. It woke me up.

reply

Omg! :o I was gonna say that!

reply

That's ok. The park is big enough for both of us.

reply

Sorry, nothing impressive yet. I guess I have to go with the dunes of Maspalomas on Gran Canaria. We went at night and it looked just like a desert.

reply

I'd say they're pretty impressive, although not so much at night, I imagine.

The Grand Canyon is nothing at night, either.

Niagara Falls was amazing to me, too. All that power...

(That's my own photo, by the way.)

reply

It actually seemed more like a desert at night, because you couldn't see the sea or anything. Just the sand reflecting the light of the moon (and the giant hotel behind us)

That's a very cool picture, by the way. Love the rainbow!

reply

Yours is cool, too! Thanks!

reply

I definitely did NOT take that picture!😆

reply

Sorry, I didn't really think you did. 😬 I'm a lousy picture taker, especially the older I get. Can't hold the camera or phone steady enough, 😒 so I generally rely on the internet for help.

reply

Great photo. It looks like the surface of Mars.

reply

So you've been to Mars???

reply

A few times. It's lovely this time of year.

reply

So do you stay at the Hilton or do you have a vacation home? I was thinking about timesharing.

reply

Hilton all the way. Valet parking, excellent WiFi and complimentary breakfast.

reply

If there's a shuttle service to and from the airport, I'll definitely check that out.👍

Niagara Falls
Banff, Alberta
Lake Louise Alberta
Whistler Mountain, BC
A caribou herd in Northern Labrador
Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick

Canada is the most likely foreign country I have even a chance of seeing. If you were to recommend one can't-miss Canadian site, what would you choose?

reply

Lake Louise is stunning

reply

Wow. It's a bit of a drive from here but you never know. Train, maybe. Always wanted to take another train trip. I'll have to check if a train's even an option.

reply

The greyhounds go there , thats how i saw Banff.

Then i did a solid 56 hour bus trip from there to Toronto , and i dont think one minute went by i didnt see lightning!

A beach in Peru.

reply

Lake Superior is another one. Reminds me of an ocean.

reply

About 10 years ago, shortly after our father's funeral, my brother and his wife took me on motorcycle trip along the north shore of Superior along highway 61. We eventually turned north and went into the Boundary Waters wilderness area, along the Gunflint Trail and nearly to the Canadian border. It's a great memory of mine.

reply

Yes The Grand Canyon is amazing.
Yosemite
Sequoia Nat'l. Park
Sedona, Arizona. It has a mystical phenomenon call the "spiritual vortex" You have to experience it.

reply

I have been to Sedona, and you're right about it being mystical, although I didn't know it had a name.

reply

Anse Source d’Argent. It was so unreal. I felt like I was on the alien beach in Contact.

reply

I've been 13,000 feet falling through the sky bunches of times.
