Are you Over or Under 40 years old?

Because let's face it folks, 40 is the scary number, the one where you can't excuse immature actions anymore. Well... a lot less. 40 sounds like the "real adult" age.

And yet you're one of the most mature posters here.

Thanks db20db.

It's a sincere compliment. I've admired & respected your presence & input here for quite some time now and just felt this was the appropriate time to express it.

reply

Agreed.

Keep the family happy, be a proper mate to your partner, earn decent money, avoid breaking any of the bigger laws and it's all good!

You seem to be doing well on all fronts StoneBro

I'm under 40 still, but not for long. I'm 37. My thirties weren't much different from my twenties in the fact that I've lived in the same apartment for almost 15 years, I've never married, etc., Etc.

Regardless of marital status there is still an emptiness in my life. I can't really put my finger on it but I know that it's not necessarily fixed by marriage. That would be great, but so many people think it's panacea and they end up divorced.

reply

You're right about marriage not fixing things. Nor does having a baby fix a marriage. It usually exacerbates the underlying problems.

reply

The worse mistake you can ever make.

reply

I agree completely! It's sad because the children are the ones who suffer the most.

reply

Yep. People should fix their problem first before marrying (or at least before having children.)

reply

Quite right. The issue is to get folks to recognize they HAVE problems.

reply

How about all the chicks who get Knocked Up and go around saying they are Single Moms and how tough they have it. Makes me want to spit. You made your own bed, you have a life-time "pet" to keep you company, don't complain. I'm serious.

reply

They are stronk independent women.

reply

Over 40. I think 30 is the age you can't excuse immature actions anymore. If you haven't figured things out by then, you might not ever do so.

reply

Im was talking about minor childish acts like: playing videogames for hours, waking up at 11am on saturday, smoking weed daily...

reply

Okay, then I concede to your definition, but I'm still over 40! ๐Ÿ˜‰

reply

I do all those things๐Ÿ˜ณ

reply

Pretty sure I will too!

reply

It's good for you๐Ÿ‘

reply

I agree. I put up with friends immaturity in their 20s but when they were in their 30s, showing no signs of maturing, I drifted.

reply

over

reply

Just because you're over 40 doesn't mean you can't retain a sense of fun and have not one f*ck to give if anyone thinks that's immature.
Just because you're under 40 doesn't mean you can't be deadly earnest or have a lot of 'city miles'.
Over 40. by the way.

reply

I agree, I was just mentioning the mental vision most peeps have about 40. It implies for me anyway; I always felt like when I'll be 40 i'll become a real adult. Not before. But deep down inside I know damn well that I'll still be the same.

reply

One thing I always liked about my dad was that he never lost his childlike sense of humor. He could be mature and business-like, but never lost his love of fun and games.

reply

Over 40...under 50...so there's that ๐Ÿ‘

reply

I'm 2 years off 40. I'm trying to become more disciplined and goal oriented. I want to have some success in my life and it's time to grow up a bit more. Hopefully I can do it.

reply

I wish you the best! Life is hard.

reply

Thanks. No better way to offset ageing than having a nice house and other things. I gotta make bank! lol

reply

I'm very satisfied with my house and I'm happy to say that it's paid for - all mine. Financially, I'm doing okay and that's good enough for me.
