What makes you happy?

Simple things make me happy
For me:

A sharp pocket knife
Petting my rabbits
Mowing the lawn
Pizza...any kind really
Pleasing my wife
Chopping firewood
Finding a tool I lost months ago
Chinese takeout
Cleaning and polishing firearms
Keeping the garage tidy
Rock and Pop music...music in general
Payday
Hearing my kids laugh

An easy commute
Christmas decorations
Seeing happy dogs at the park
Seeing nosy cats in neighbors front windows
Having a clean, well organized house, office, car
Sweet, juicy fruits in season
Gingerbread
Mulled wine
Watching a great movie on cable
Reading a great book
Finishing tedious reading but learning from it
Green lights
Coupons
Family dinners
Soft, fresh bread from the bakery
The smell of pine trees
Scent of jasmine on a warm summer night
A clear sky full of stars

Your happy list makes me happy too
A shorter commute would be lovely and the organized and tidy home, office and car are a must!
I cannot abide sloppy, cluttered surroundings

reply

๐Ÿ˜€ aww, the simple things will do it.

reply

There is a doggy park right outside my subdivision. I love watching them running around and having fun.

reply

Lucky you!

Summer and everything associated with it:

Warm weather
Long days and short nights
Being able to leave all the windows open and having the scent of fresh air throughout the house
Summer fruits like watermelon, nectarines and plums
Farm fresh corn and tomatoes
The scent of mowed grass
Baseball
Barbecue
Fireworks

Suddenly I am missing summer. Great list!

reply

Thank you! I am consoled by the fact that our resident Kiwi, HodWatt, is enjoying summer right now.

reply

The rhythmic chirping of crickets contributing to a tranquil summer night.

reply

Yes indeed. Great addition to the list, thanks. And that reminds me of another summer treat โ€” watching lightning bugs/fireflies.

reply

eat, sleep, watch tv, play videogames, read.

Not bad halo๐Ÿ‘

Coffee in the morning.
Irish Whiskey in the evening.
Irish Coffee whenever I feel like it. (as long as I don't have to drive).

reply

Right on!
As long as no driving is involved drinking sure can make me happy๐Ÿป

I tend to follow the 'Buffalo Herd' theory of neuroscience Cliff described on 'Cheers' back when. The alcohol gets all the slow, weak brain cells and the brain as a whole remains strong. Nice if it really worked like that.

Some things that make me happy:

โ€ข Nice animals (especially getting to pet them).
โ€ข Cute girls, regrettably.
โ€ข Old school films (mostly animated) and computer games.
โ€ข Anticipation for "Mary Poppins Returns"; it's at LEAST featuring 2d animation.
โ€ข Lots of music in general (soft piano and/or guitar can soothe me; livelier music can excite)
โ€ข And, at the risk of potentially offending some others, anticipation for the new mostly Democratic House in January (and, just the fact that the current presidential term is finally so much as HALF over already :))

PS Sorry I haven't posted in several months; also happy to be back! lol

reply

Glad you returned
Stick around if you have the time๐Ÿ‘

reply

Yes, sorry it took me a little while to get around to responding.

I'm also happy tbh that this is, in many ways, a more positive alternative to the old IMDb message boards; I went on those all the darn time, and oftentimes they were over bustling with activity (more often then not on the negative side towards the end of their existence). With Moviechat, however, I don't post as often, but whenever I do (like right now) it's a really nice feeling and it's almost never overflowing with excess activity positive or negative; not since this site launched at least...

Pickles
Greek Yogurt
Kombucha (0.005 alcohol)
Walking and running with my dog

Enjoying my local bird habitat and hearing them chirp
Watching Jeopardy!
Watching Star Trek
Camp fires
Writing poems and short stories

Good for you donating your time to read to people...most classy my friend

reply

You do what you can to make the world a little better. You are a simple man, Shogun; an amigo who knows what matters in his life.

Plus, much of what you listed works in combos. What's not to like about that?

Waking up early on a day off and realising I don't have to get up.

reply

Oh that's a great one!
Sometimes I set my alarm on my first day of a vacation just to wake up this way
You gotta make your own happiness , am I right?

reply

Finishing a graphite drawing
Writing poetry and short stories
Taking long walks on brisk days

reply

I respect that
My sister is an art teacher, she is pretty talented
I admire artists (and I love horrors/thrillers/suspence)

Nice to see you around Lovely:)

reply

Art has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember, and I have immense respect for artists as well. I'm actually on a website called DeviantART where I post my writings, drawings, and photographs. I've been on that site longer than any other.

Thanks, nice to see you too! :)
