Stonekeeper's Autumn Game: I recommend this Mystery Movie #95 [StoneKeeper wins with The Pelican Brief (1993)]

So you guys like to play games? Here is an investigation game that can be time consuming but it's lots of fun. Basically, I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guys are going to guess, I will give a hint that CONNECTS your guess with the movie I have in mind.

Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve a love triangle.

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints, the point goes to the OP and he/she gets to start another one.

NEW RULE: Movie must have at least 9000 votes on IMDB. (I made this official for our accountant. 8999 WILL be refused. Thank you to everyone.)

Hint #1: Halloween (1978) - Thriller genre in common.
Hint #2: Chungking Express (1994) - Released in the 1990s.
Hint #3: The Devil's Advocate (1997) - Based on a novel.
Hint #4: La Femme Nikita (1990) - The main character is a woman.
Hint #5: Misery (1990) - IMDb rating is between 6.0 and 8.0.
Hint #6: Jackie Brown (1997) - Crime genre in common.

Correct answer: The Pelican Brief (1993)

You win!!!

It almost was too late; I had just added the hint (and a couple others) and was about to click the submit button, but figured I'd check first in case anyone changed their guesses lol.

reply

Yes! My time has come!! mouhahaha!

reply

Congrats Stonekeeper!

reply

Congrats!

reply

Well played.

reply

This is not considered a thriller as per imdb so I ruled it out.

reply

Yeah it is. Although it's not listed as such at the top of the page, so I can see why someone would miss that. But halfway down the page, it says this:

"Genres: Crime | Drama | Mystery | Thriller"

reply

yep, more information on Genres down there Hownos, Keep up, keep up. :p

reply

I know now.

reply

Dolores Claiborne (1995)

reply

not considered a thriller.

reply

Imdb lists it as "Crime | Drama | Mystery | Thriller" so it would be considered a thriller based on imdb.

reply

Just Crime Drama and Mystery from what I see.

reply

If you go halfway down the page, it lists genres there and has all four listed.

reply

your looking in the wrong place.(under the title)
you've got to scroll down to beneath the cast list,
you'll come to Storyline.
under that, Plot Keywords and under that
Taglines:blah, blah, blah, and under that is
Genres:Crime Drama Mystery Thriller

reply

I just noticed this. Thanks.

knowing the format of these pages, and how to find 'hidden' information,
and how to use the Advanced Search, is key to improving your game.
