How did I know it was MovieMan who made another political topic?

Sigh. I remember when his politics first started to grate on me.... When he engaged in blatant racism.

When did he cross the line for you?

reply

Honestly? I'm gonna be so real with yall right now.

From the very first post I saw of his, I thought what a jerk! I can't remember what it said because that was months ago and I used to get bored and go WAYY back in the archives of GD and browse but anyway, yeah. He's just rude. I worry about people who only think about politics. Not healthy.

I think that about a lot of people though. I'm very different when it comes to what I care about, compared to others I know/work with/etc.

reply

I understand

reply

Realness is always appreciated.

reply

He is politically obsessed like many Americans.

reply

Over two years ago on IMDb.

reply

Fortunately or unfortunately, I never encountered him there.

reply

It was a forewarning for me and also fortunate for you. You'd be even more weary of him if you had.

reply

This was about more than politics for me. It was about a mans life being destroyed because of non corroborated accusations. Had he not been confirmed, it would have set a bad precedent for future issues. Just for the record, this is coming from an Independent who leans Left on most issues.

reply

Destroyed? Hyperbole much? He should have just made an affirmative statement of innocence and then left. Essentially, "I don't need this shit". What about Merrick Garland? Was his life destroyed because a bunch of ass-jack pubs scuttled the idea that a sitting two-term President shouldn't have an unexpected SCOTUS nomination? It's all such BS.
The fact that he's so adamant that he DESERVES to be on the SCOTUS is proof enough that he isn't humble, thoughtful and reasonable to make decisions that affect all of us. He's a Partisan Hack, and he's been promised TOO MUCH $$ to blow this deal. He said as much -- millions of dollars, Democratic conspiracy, what a load of nonsense.
Hilary was right using the word Deplorable. She just aimed it at the wrong people.

reply

Ya, that was BS about what happened to Garland. I wasn't happy about that since I voted for Obama twice.
Still though, I firmly believe unsubstantiated sexual assault claims, which was full of holes by the way, should be enough to deny Kavenaugh a seat on the SCOTUS.
Move on and focus on the Midterms.

reply

There's a lot to unpack here, so I'm just going to provide a reminder that McConnell condemned the democrats for obstructing the confirmation when he himself said that he would not consider any nominee of Obama's.

reply

Thank you. I know GD isn't supposed to be a political forum, but we are living in turbulent times, and it's hard to compartmentalize things when evil is lurking about.

reply

Sorry, but I can't say this thread is any better.

reply

This kind of bickering has gone on for more than a couple years now in the States.

reply

Well, they should take it to the Trump board or something!

reply

It’s your birthday weekend, you can say whatever you like 🙂

reply

Oh no, if I did that I would need to be censored!😘

reply

No need to apologize, it wasn't meant to be.

reply

But why do it, Frog? You really think we need threads attacking other posters on here? And believe me, I've had my share of altercations with MovieMan.

reply

I avoid the political stuff. You can't win. Besides I am not American.

reply

Me neither, most of the political stuff doesn't interest me.

reply

Technically we don't need any threads here.... just sayin

reply

Not much discussion without any threads at all.

reply

Well I mean if the site didn't exist, it doesn't need to. I'm glad it does, though.

reply

I don't have a problem with people who see things differently than I do. Ksp and I are very different politically and we get along just fine.

It's when people start insulting one another that I have a problem. As TheWaitress said, it's rude. So when he started in with that libtard crap, that's when he crossed the line for me.

reply

You are so right, Cat. Napster and I were polar opposites, but we were amicable. Every so often I let something slip.....like my joy of what occurred today. Anyhow as I often have stated why argue with someone whose politics are different from yours? Nothing is going to change. It’s just arguing with a keyboard. It’s not healthy for one thing! Post some info if you wish, but don’t get into arguments and ad hominem attacks. But, (I gave snepts this info previously) for the record it was Senator Schumer who first stated a SCOTUS nominee should not be considered so close to an election. ‘Nuff said! Love 💕 & Blessings to all! Dewey says so!😇 😔Damn...I miss him....

reply

Ksp, both you and Naps earned my respect for the way you could feel so passionately about your polar opposite views, and still be friendly. He was very invested in politics. Maybe you are too. It was so refreshing to see the civil and even friendly exchanges between you.

I'm not as invested in politics as you two, and steer clear of discussion the topic as much as I can.

reply

Very wise, Obi-Wan!👩‍🎓👩‍🏫

I’ve had Dewey on mind frequently this weekend. There were so many aspects to his persona...he knew how to scold without insults....sometimes you weren’t aware he was scolding. He was succinct in those posts....message sent & received! I loved his one line zingers. He wasn’t a sycophant, yet he got along with everyone. 😔

reply

Yeah this is super mean spirited. Calling someone out like that. I don’t give a shit about discussing politics but I know movieman from the twin peaks board and he was always a gentleman and sometimes pretty humorous. I have met some cocksuckers on here however, and I still wouldn’t make a thread calling them out. How mean girls of you. Lame.

reply

That's fair.
