AWESOME Weekend plans?

Im taking it easy and being boring this weekend
Mow the grass, wash the cars, tidy the cellar...basic household chores...Lame-o!

Anybody doing something fun this fine late Summer weekend??
I'd like to hear of your adventures, fun dates or other crazy times;)

Ouch! I hope you were able to lift using your legs instead of raising your arms. Once, heard a doctor tell twin B it's better to lift pushing than pulling up.

Let's hope all your hiking prevented worse aches from happening. 👬👍 Recognizing our physical limitations makes us humble. Still, I think it's pretty cool that you're very active for your age, by the sounds of it.

Oof!
Moving is the worst...never trying it again!!
I moved my brother in law a couple of years ago...sometime between his sofa and the bedroom set i turned my ankle very badly but like a big dummy i was too macho to mention it or slow down...
Men dont quit, right?

The takeaway is nobody (not even sweet wifey!) knows that i have a nagging ankle injury for 2 years now AND im never moving anybody's stuff again LOL;)
I wake up and can hardly walk some days...im sure that its tough to be a lady but if you want to be a man it means no crying, ibuprofen twice a day and dont mention your aches and pains
Damn, ive collected a bunch of aches and pains...as the leader of a household i think its very important NOT to mention the various pains...
I just act like General Daddy...somehow 'the troops' still listen to me

The lower back is my trouble spot too
I took the family to the Connecticut shore earlier this week...last few days of summer so my kiddies deserved one last fling...we camped in the woods (lovely) and spent the days on the beach (tolerable)
My new Yurt tent works great...but i think the ground has become harder over the last 20 years!
Surely there are studies to prove this-
Back spasms for days!!

Sorry about your kids but im sure they will hash it out bud

reply

[deleted]

Glad to hear it
Brothers and sisters...always a bit of friction!

The Yurt really works!
Good design...high peak so you can stand up and very good ventilation...we also got poured on and no leaks!
About $100 bucks at Walmart;)
Great tent

Fill out political ballot.
Watch classic 'House of Horrors' film.
Take my dog, Teeny, to the beach (Don't tell her. She hates tons of water).
Ha, already did the yard mowing. Lazy weekend, yay!

Just another day in suburbia, Shogie. Sometimes, it's good our lives are not like an action movie. Cheers! 🍻

i'm gong to see the re-release of 2001 this afternoon - the first time i'll see it on an actual movie screen, & i'm quite looking forward to that.

i've seen 2001 quite a number of times over the years. it was actually the first blu-ray i bought when i start purchasing films in that format. but as i said above, this was the first time i ever had a chance to see it in a theatre on a big screen with a proper soundsystem.

& i have to say it played brilliantly. i've always been a little sympathetic to people who found it dull, because it does move at its own pace, undeniably, and if you're not in the frame of mind to go along with its rhythm, it could bore someone to tears. but in a theatre, i found the entire thing absolutely hypnotic.

and i will also give full credit to the movie house, who played it LOUD. you could practically feel the music vibrating through your seat. i'm sure you remember that scene on the moon where the piercing sound stuns the researchers - when that came on, even though i knew it was coming, i still jumped a foot out of my seat, because that high-pitched whine practically pierced my ear-drum.

2001 is playing in theatres across north america right now as part of its 50th anniversary. if you get a chance to see it, i'd say go, even if you've seen it a billion times before. seeing it in a theatre is very much it's own experience.

it is indeed a unique experience. i know lots of people have given up on theatres, particularly those that think their home theatres replicate that experience without the annoyances of audiences with their popcorn & glowing phones & small talk. i'm not one of those people. i think there's something in the shared experience of seeing a film with a group of people that disappears when you watch it at home. maybe it truly makes no difference to some people, but it really makes a difference to me.

and i enjoyed my screening of 2001 so much, i'm actually going to sneak out this afternoon and watch it again! and i completely encourage everyone who's never seen the movie, or who found it a bit of a chore to get through watching it on television to do the same. it really is a very different experience watching it in a theatre.

Went to the CNE. Played some games and spent about $40.00 and won a cheap teddy bear. Then I had the golden burger which was good - very heavy on the bacon.
