Have you watched any good documentaries lately?

One of my granddaughters and I just finished watching Africa, a BBC series. I am pleased that she found it so mesmerizing. She's eight.

The new movie about the children's tv show host in the 1960s, Fred Rogers, is supposed to be very good.

Senna (2010): I rewatched this. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen... It's about one of the greatest racecar drivers of all time... I watched it with friends who aren't into racing and by t1he end they had a few tears in their eyes... Beautiful movie, kenetic, thrilling and tragic... A must see.

Bobby Kennedy For President: Netflix documentary that covers Robert Kennedy's political career leading up to his presidential bid and his assasination... 4 part documentary. Was interesting.

Wild Wild Country: Six part Netflix documentary about Bogwan Rajneesh cult's rise and it's settlement in America... INSANE story, handled with a lot of empathy to the cult leaders involved. A bit overly dramatically edited in the latter parts, but on the whole an interesting journey into the politics of this cult as well as a profile of one of it's key leaders, Ma Anand Sheela; a case study in the dangers of a cult of personality. This is a documentary to watch with a very critical eye as it is not hard to feel sorry for the deluded mass of cult memebers, especially those who had emptiness in their lives... It's chilling to know how close this was to expanding in the US and that it is growing internationally...

Sounds interesting. I recently watched the new documentary film "RBG", about SCOTUS Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. She's quite a fascinating individual. It's playing in various theatres in our area. Highly recommended. You'll like it.

I watched one called Cropsey (09) fairly recently
It was about a serial murderer
Very disturbing, nasty stuff
Not for everyone

I've seen it and you're right.

Shame they didnt convict on all 5 but the 2 they could prove were enough to send him to the Pen forever
Gotta say, this one stuck with me for a bit!

reply

Yeah, on a similar level to Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

Oh man that Henry...more chilling than a dozen Hollywood slashers and torture porns

Henry just felt real, plain and simple
I read about Lucas and O'Toole many years ago and this film really represented their evil insanity perfectly, many facts changed of course
Henry felt like a documentary
The suitcase scene at the end could break your heart man...
