Life is bearable!

Come on, guys and girls! What are the good things in life? What makes us happy? What helps us get through the day? You too, TheMan18!

I'll start:

Fluffy bunnies!❀🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰❀

reply

black forest cake
butterscotch ice cream
John Wayne movies
walks on Lake Ontario

reply

Watching The Room.

Or old episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful!

reply

bearable might be the right word

reply

Does Canadian humour deserve to be on the list, Mitch?

reply

We are famous for our comedians

reply

So? Germany is famous for its nazis...

reply

Germans don't seem to have a sense of humor.

reply

Canadians are apparently self-appointed experts about what comprises a sense of humor.

reply

You've clearly never spent any time with Hitler. Absolutely hilarious.

reply

he did look ridiculous.

reply

This disappoints me, Strat. I thought we had previously really connected over things we love about Germany. And I was just about to contribute a lengthy, fun & humorous post to this thread. Guess it wasn't meant to be.

reply

Germans are a riot.

reply

I think you did an oustanding job with this post, db!

Chillax, buddy, it was a dig at Canadian comedians, not the Germans. You know what they say: "Don't mention the war!"

reply

If that was the intent, the punchline fell flat because it really came across as perpetuating the stigma of an evil regime.

reply

I'm sorry it did, but I expected hownos to get that I was saying (in jest) that Canadian comedians are awful and not something to be proud of.

reply

John Candy
Martin Short
Norm MacDonald
Mike Myers
Dan Aykroyd
Phil Hartman
Rick Moranis
Jim Carrey
Leslie Nielsen
Dave Thomas
Samatha Bee
David Steinberg
Tommy Chong

reply

All horrible people who should be imprisoned for their crimes against humour.

reply

Sit down and watch Leslie Nielsen in Airplane or Naked Gun. You are still young. There is hope.

reply

I've seen those movies and I'm old enough to realize there's no hope left for you guys! You'll always suck at humour!

Comfort yourself with the fact that db has proven the Dutch are just as bad...

reply

I wouldn't use db as a guide for humor.

reply

It's a shame he decided against sharing his humorous post with us. I was genuinely curious. I guess those are the consequences of a bad joke. I almost feel like Samantha Bee-atch right now.

reply

I wouldn't worry about it. I am sure it was very funny.

reply

Has to be.

reply

I'm sure you would have liked it.

reply

Perhaps. I seem to have a terrible sense of humour, though.

reply

Coming from intellectually lazy, sentence fragment, Mr. droll & dead pan.

reply

Come on, db, let's not do this. This was supposed to be a lighthearted thread. And yes, I'm also directing this at hownos.

Just share some happy things with us. Maybe some tasty German food. Ever had Mezzo Mix/Spezi? Delicious!

reply

He has had a consistent pattern of trying to discredit my sense of humor here yet also consistently agreeing with me on numerous movies, which makes him inconsistent.

reply

But those are two different, unrelated things, aren't they? It seems possible to disagree on humour, but agree on numerous movies?

I don't think it helps to constantly bring up your sense of humour (or lack of). But I don't think hownos is too happy with the things you say about him either.

reply

We do tend to like the same movies. Amazing isn't it ??

reply

Well, I tried.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

reply

I did too.

reply

Then why didn't you post your funny story?

reply

Believe me, I really wanted to. Like I said, it would have required some time & effort and by now I've made numerous references about being fed up with crap I consider a waste of time.

reply

So with one silly joke my thread turned from something worthwile into
crap that's a waste of time?

reply

You misunderstood. I'm talking about a long term negative pattern here that drives people away & many have complained about. I only said I was "disappointed" in what you had posted. If cheap-shot-taking nose hadn't chimed in with his usual, sarcastic, lame attempts at humor, it might have been salvaged.

reply

It was MY response to hownos' serious reply that resulted in a short exchange with humour that apparently doesn't appeal to everyone. But it was not a total derailment and it should be possible in a lighthearted thread like this one. But it's your decision.

reply

I accidentally landed in the middle of your exchange with him when I was about to post my comment. When I saw your post, it soured me and one thing just led to another. Like I said, guess it wasn't meant to be. But I still like you. I think you have a very sharp, sassy sense of humor, much like Dazed.

reply

Well, I'm glad to know things haven't completely soured between us.

high speed internet

reply

Have you ever experienced that? It seems to be a myth!

reply

[deleted]

You ruined my day!πŸ˜‘

reply

[deleted]

I wouldn't trust Croft with a bow and arrow. You never know if that's really a rabbit he brings back.😱

reply

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure he has! It upset us a great deal!😒

reply

More likely he’d shoot his own foot.

reply

Lol. Now I'm reminded of that joke about the two guys that go hunting.πŸ˜†

reply

[deleted]

I think I already told it twice on this board. It was voted funniest joke in the world, I believe.

reply

[deleted]

Okay, here it goes! I hope you're sitting down or you might hurt yourself!

"Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says, "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence; then a gun shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says, "OK, now what?""

Sounds exactly like Croft, doesn't it?

reply

[deleted]

I didn't vote!

reply

[deleted]

Did Al Capone come up with that one?

reply

Mayor Richard Daley

reply

He's bad, but Detroit has had worse.

reply

Daley was the mayor of Chicago in 1960 and rigged the election so JFK could win a very close race against Nixon.

reply

Yes, I know who you mean, although apparently that's just a myth. His son was also pretty bad.

reply

[deleted]

"Daley also contributed toΒ John F. Kennedy's narrow, 8,000 vote victory in Illinois inΒ 1960. A PBS documentary entitled "Daley" explained that Mayor Daley and JFK potentially stole the 1960 election by stuffing ballot boxes and rigging the vote in Chicago. Although often quoted as fact, this repeated claim is impossible. Kennedy won with 303 electoral college votes and needed only 269, meaning Nixon would have lost even had he won Illinois' 27 votes. Had Nixon won Illinois' 27 electoral votes, he would have had 246 electoral votes while Kennedy would have had 276."

reply

Nixon would have to have won Illinois and Texas to get to 270 electoral votes. Many think the vote in Texas was just as rigged as the one in Illinois. Eisenhower won Texas by 12% in 1956.

reply

All elections are probably rigged, but what do I know.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

YES! A positive flip side to that sad song....
so much is making me happy these days. I'm feeling good, and that is always a blessing.
My son and his husband are doing great.
i love waking up each day with my husband and my cat. I have some great friends... some of them aren't even fluffy or furry!
My flower beds are looking great this year. I have no doubt in my mind that the blizzard we had in April had something to do with that.
All in all? Life can be good when you look around and appreciate the good things in it.

reply

Knowing that I woke up and have another day to spend learning, loving, smiling, being grateful for the new day, and making the most of it. Friends, relatives, being positive in a crazy world, and yes, keep smiling!

reply

I forgot about cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudel.

reply

They do taste delicious. Those strudels, I mean.

reply

Thank you for the clarification!
I now wish I would have said Tootsie Pops.

reply

I've never had those, so I have no idea whether they're delicious or not.
