Where do you shop for clothes?

I'm currently on the prowl for some normal black jeans. I need them for work. I don't want skinny jeans, (my size 18 ass and thighs do not work with this style) I don't want "jeggings". The website I bought my last two pairs is out of stock of my size.
I hardly ever can find anything in a store so I just shop online. What about you?

reply

I wish I could help but I'm in the UK and my local clothes shop are either too expensive, geared towards anorexic 6 foot women or 80 year olds who enjoy artificial fabrics that cause static shocks.
In short I usually shop online too. I wear black trousers for work too, I try to go for lightweight Chino types or good old jeggings for comfort haa!

reply

lightweight Chino types, hmm. What is a chino? Is that like khaki? I'm clueless.

My friend introduced me to Marshall's a few months ago. Didn't know we had one and had never been in one. But now I go there all the time! For clothes, shoes, household stuff, and more.

But, I have noticed virtually all of their jeans and other pants are skinny :(

reply

:( this skinny trend needs to disappear.

reply

I agree! The thing is unless you're actually *skinny* (not just thin), they don't look good on anyone :(

I'd be good if they'd just have some wider leg jeans and pants, so we have a choice.

All I've been able to find this year is a pair of yoga pants.

reply

Amen! I would love a choice. I found a decent pair of denim jeans a few months back at a yard sale for $2. They've got a hole in them in the thigh but they fit great. I love yoga pants! Those wide legged ones look so comfy :)

reply

A pair of great-fitting jeans, and for only $2? Major score! I wouldn't care about a hole in the thigh :)

This was the only pair of wide-legged yoga pants I could find, anywhere :(. But yes, they are very comfy and I'm happy to have found them!

reply

I mostly shop at H&M these days, but I still have trouble finding good pants as I'm no fan of the skinny fit either. The last few I bought online.

reply

Never tried H&M, I'll check out that website.

reply

Might try khols...marshals is also good the wife says...jcpenny maybe?

reply

JcPenny is the place that usually carries them but they are out of stock :( I'll try Marshalls and Khols though. Thanks DF! Tell Mrs Feet thanks too :D

Goodwill!

reply

I keep wanting to step into one of those and also a thrift store, never been to one of those either.

reply

That's where I buy all my clothes. . .thrift stores. Amazing what you can find there.

reply

That's what I've always heard. I want a lava lamp for my kitchen or maybe the tv room, boyfriend said we might be able to find one there. I need to go next off day I have. I've stolen several of his shirts that he found at thrift stores, hoping I can find more whenever I make the journey. They are so unique!

reply

Thrift shops is a great idea. I don't know why I didn't think of suggesting them! Sometimes you can find new clothing in them, and if not new, gently worn. That's probably your best bet for finding wide-legged jeans, because until this year, they've been reasonably plentiful.

reply

In addition to clothes you can find CDs, DVDs, books, kitchen tools, some furniture, towels, jewelry and other "nick-nacks". Have fun!

reply

Thank you! I will :) I can't wait to go.

reply

Slightly different from thrift stores, see if you have any consignment stores in your area. They are pickier with what they take as they are essentially paying for the clothes they sell.

reply

I've heard of those in towns about an hour away. When my daughter was a baby, I heard about those stores all the time. Women would rave about how great of a deal you could get on baby clothes/furniture.

reply

Because of my mom I've shopped consignment my whole life. I've found some fantastic deals.

reply

Absolutely.

Goodwill for polo shirts, online (ebay, academy) for shorts and sweat pants. That's it thats all I wear.

Oh I did buy some shoes on Amazon for my mental health.

reply

What's the correlation between shoes and mental health?

reply

They are my "forgiveness shoes", my "let it go shoes". For months I was very very angry and upset about IMDb (and Amazon and Bezos) for discontinuing the message boards. I decided I would not dwell on it for 30 days. At the end of the thirty days I thought if I actually made an Amazon purchase that would be quite the exclamation point.

Thus I think of these Assics shoes, which I wear nearly every single day, as my "forgiveness"shoes. Good for my mental health.

Now, having gone through those 30 days, and with forgiveness shoes safely under my coffee table I can safely say that the difference between Jeff Bezos allowing IMDb message boards to be taken down and the Romans burning of the library at Alexandria = = = = THE ROMANS did it by ACCIDENT !!!

reply

Wait a sec... So you were angry towards Jeff Bezos and then, to make a personal statement to him, you gave him even more money?

I don't quite understand the logic here. And why put shoes under the coffee table??

Oh, AND ROMANS DIN'T DU NOTHIN' WRONG!

reply

> you gave him

yes, I did.

> why put shoes under the coffee table??

because I'm usually on the sofa by the coffee table when I take them off.

if you google "burning of alexandria library"

you will get "The ancient accounts by Plutarch, Aulus Gellius, Ammianus Marcellinus, and Orosius indicate that troops of Julius Caesar accidentally burned the library during or after the Siege of Alexandria in 48 BC."

it was an accident, not done on purpose (unlike Bezos)

as for not understanding, if you ask a specific question, I will attempt to answer.

Bass Pro, LL Bean and random department stores. Marshalls is hit or miss and I avoid trendy clothing stores at the mall. What a wear is usually a mish-mash or randomness. Oh, and I don't tuck in my shirt unless someone has died.

reply

My wardrobe consists of gym shorts, a few jeans and random tshirts. A few dirty tank tops and I have a couple of dresses. Tucking in your shirt is so uncomfortable! I'll check out LL Bean and break down and try Amazon.

reply

LL Bean is not cheap, but I find the clothes are quality and last a very long time.

reply

Yeah about 70 bucks for a pair of jeans. No styles I liked, might check out other things from there though. I liked some beach towels.

reply

The Bay in Canada is a wonderful store for men's clothing.
