Where do you shop for clothes?

I'm currently on the prowl for some normal black jeans. I need them for work. I don't want skinny jeans, (my size 18 ass and thighs do not work with this style) I don't want "jeggings". The website I bought my last two pairs is out of stock of my size.
I hardly ever can find anything in a store so I just shop online. What about you?

reply

Where I live, there's a really generic selection of stores. Unless you make a lot of money and can shop high end, you have to go online for decent clothing at a good price.

Specifically for clothing above a size 14, I would recommend newlook.com, asos.com and torrid.com. And specifically for jeans, I say look in the opposite gender section of local shops - if you're a guy, look in the women's jeans section and vice versa. Sales racks and thrift shops are okay, but I find these rarely to be good value for money because the 'sales' don't vary far from the original price so you might as well buy something firsthand.

Appreciate it bud! I wonder what my size would be in mens. hmmm

reply

No worries. Hope you find something good.

Wally world - I get 10% off; J.C. Pennys , Big Five Sporting Goods for shoes and sweatpants and shirts.
Big R - bought a western suit there

various catalogs & online

reply

That 10% helps! My brother worked at Wal-Mart in the past. He'd use it on groceries.

reply

No doubt , waitress - and some people do not understand living within one's means and sticking to a budget.
Generally , I go elsewhere for meat and fresh fruit and vegetables- They will apply my 10 percent to fresh fruits and vegetables but not to most groceries. Every little bit helps

reply

Wal-Mart ended up being the winner. I got two pairs for $45, free shipping. Can't beat that honestly. Yeah, I agree! I try not to overspend and save as much money as possible. I get a 20% discount from the store I work at when I buy private brands so that's always nice to use on stuff. I like coupons a lot too. My boyfriend and I shop at Wal-Mart for meat and fresh produce because our local grocery store doesn't compare.

reply

Just the opposite in my neck of the woods

reply

Walmart is the place! I shop there often.

reply

Where else can you get tires, bullets, steaks and a case of beer?

reply

Hahaha exactly!

I'm a guy so I won't be of much help, but I like to tell people the majority of my shirts have been given to me.
Somehow, I kept acquiring hand-me-downs and gifts such that, I rarely want to buy a new shirt.
I have a lot of clothes, and I try to systematically go through them one-by-one, usually wearing a t-shirt beneath to avoid having to wash them every time, so there isn't a lot of wear.
But I suppose I'm a Target/JC Penney kind of guy, if I do want to buy something.

reply

I've worn guy shirts for years, I like the way they look and feel more than I like a woman's shirt. I dig JcPenney a lot, shopped there many times. Target, not so much.

Side question: You mean you wear two shirts all the time? I would SWEAT.

reply

Maybe you live in a warm climate or maybe your body thermometer is hotter than mine.
It's not unusual where I live that temps are High 30s to 70s. Once it gets into the mid-70s, I don't wear an under-shirt.
I'm used to being cold all the time, and having layers is a good strategy.

reply

You don't talk to her. Don't even look at her, snepts. She's with somebody and he wouldn't like it you sniffin' after her.

"I don't wear any under-shirt. I don't live in my parents attic. I'm used to being cold all the time." I see you.

Get out of it, snepts.

reply

... sure ... o-k, Colbert ... whatever ...
You're in charge here. Defend thewaitress, gallant knight.
Now that I think about it, the movie Waitress is a favorite of mine.
A very sweet story. Guess that makes me a mirror of what you are afraid of being what you are -- a pervert.

snepts always resorts to name calling when I got a stout grip on his short hairs.

LMVICTORIOUSAO!!!

reply

Just when I thought you were o-k, you show yourself to be one weird dude.
That's why i said your parents would be ashamed at your present behavior.
You asked for a pass and I gave it to you. Then you take this bizarre tack.
Let's just part ways. This is not productive, and I say this as a proud Progressive, not wanting to engage in personal attacks, which seems the only way you know how to funnel all your confused feelings.
Still live at home? But no, your parents are dead, as are mine.
So somehow, you are in a comfortable space that allows you to sling darts at people you don't like.
Have fun with that. I'm sure you are a big hit at the Klan parties.

reply

Let's just part ways.

Sweetheart, boobie, I don't "part ways." It's my religion.

Let us proceed...

reply

(roll eyes) Let's not. I'm not some GF you can't stand to let go of.
Be a man and walk away. I'm doing that right now. Ciao, adios, fare thee well, whatever, just leave me alone, please.

reply

Next thing you know we'll be getting married.

reply

Hey Cul :)

What's up? Hope all is well! Saw you being a sweetie so thought I'd say hi.

reply

Morning, youngster.

I'm like your father figure, I have to watch the guys around here.

- Dad :)

reply

I appreciate it!

Also, mostly I don't sweat a lot. I can go to the gym, work out for a long time, and my clothes barely betray I've been exercising. Yes, my face gets red, and the tips of my hair are wet, so it's obvious I have been working out, but my clothing isn't draped in sweat.
I once saw a guy who surrounded an exer bike with wash cloths because apparently he felt he was tossing off sweat like nobody's business. I don't know why, and sweating is good for you, I think. Not the exercise part, that's good for you too, but I've heard sweating rids your body of toxins very efficiently. But I'm not like that. I only sweat a little, not a lot.

reply

Sounds like you live somewhere cooler than I do and probably weigh less. I don't mind sweating at all but when I read two shirts my mind went to a place of intense sweating and losing one of those shirts in a second. I probably do run hotter than you honestly.

reply

thrift shops

reply

Second hand shops, quality on a low price

reply

Honestly, i don't like buying Used clothing. #1. They aren't clean. I don't think any charitable org washes the clothes they receive, and I worked for such an org. They do wonderful things for the community, but washing the clothes isn't one of them. #2, it's hard to figure out the size. Some random person has to quickly figure out the size of some shirt or some pair of jeans, and that's where it ends up. I don't like trying on clothes in stores. I like knowing I can buy 34W / 32L pants, and they'll probably fit o-k. A Medium shirt is close, a Large shirt allows me to wear something under it, or enjoy that it's loose and not clinging. #3, the clothes may have defects I don't notice right away. A little fray here and there, maybe the buttons don't line up like they should, a stain you didn't notice. I don't want to go back to some thrift shop and complain about a $2 shirt.
So i buy new.

reply

The old snepts, steppin' in & out of costume at the drop of a dime.

You look pisser!!!

reply

I know what it's like to be drunk, and I think that's where you are right now.
Take a little time, find something else to do, then you will fall asleep and have sweet dreams about your lovely parents and the life you never had because you are such an antagonistic sob. Parents are dancing in Heaven at their wonderful progeny. Yay !

reply

I don't drink. It's my religion.
