"The Game" --- I'm working thru it the last few days. It's been more than a few years since I last viewed it.

It's improved with age which is surprising for a film of this saber-edged collective. It's never hurried, obviously they had the money to do it at THEIR convenience and it pays off nicely here. MD ain't alone here, he is ably supported up & down the line.

"Mazel, mazel, good things."

reply

The Game is due for a rewatch.

reply

The Game is underrated

reply

Yes indeed!

I saw most of them
Se7en, The Game and Fight Club were all very entertaining and iv'e nothing bad to say of them

But Zodiac is my favorite Fincher movie and one hell of a thriller (despite knowing all along who is in danger and how they all end up i was at the edge of my seat!)
Fincher is extraordinary at tension AND humor which is a difficult balance

reply

I love them all, but especially Se7en and Zodiac. Panic Room, Fight Club, and Gone Girl are also excellent. Not to mention the first two episodes of House of Cards, and his producer role throughout.

reply

I never saw House of Cards... Heard it was great
Panic Room i have yet to see but i like the home invasion genre

Gone Girl was great fun...silly, nuts, improbable fun

reply

Sometimes I will watch films and not be aware of the Director.
Like Cronenberg, once I was aware of Fincher, I knew the film was going to be at the very least, well-made, and have some fun twists and turns.

reply

I think Cronenberg is a genius. Eastern Promises is a masterpiece. History of Violence is the same.

reply

he is a hit or a miss

reply

Did you start this thread because of what I said in the other thread?😑

reply

yes

reply

😑

Well, like I said, Mitch, I'm not that impressed!

reply

You are in the minority with respect.

reply

Around here, yes, it seems so.

reply

you have high standards

reply

Just in movies!😜

reply

David Fincher is one of the best directors working these days. There's a lot to be proud of on that list.

reply

all shit films to me, except for Alien 3.

reply

Is that just because heaps of people dislike it?

reply

no, I genuinely think it's a good movie, I don't go by what the simpletons say.

reply

I've got to be honest, I haven't seen it. I've seen the first two Alien movies but I'm stand offish about seeing the third one because of it's reputation. Maybe it is really good though.

reply

why would that deter you? it is a good film and tonally it is a continuation of the first Alien. But if you are going to see it only to become a Fincher fanboy then skip it.

reply

I like Alien 3 the Assembly cut

reply

I don't like the Assembly cut, the theatrical cut is indeed the best.

reply

No the Assembly cut is indeed the best!

reply

and why is that?

reply

Fight Club is one of my favorite movies of all time. In fact, I like them all except The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Social Network. Even Alien 3 is better than those interesting-premises-but-weak-stories.

Never saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Already watched the original version and I liked it. Just don't have enough motivation to watch the remake.

Hmm... No new movie since 2014?

reply

Panic Room is my favourite.
