"Zulu" - 1964 - Michael Caine & Stanley Baker quibble, then ascertain who has rank---then are informed that 4,000 Zulu warriors are coming directly for them after massacring a British column at Isandlwana. Baker's command of 150 British soldiers fort up at Rorke's Drift.

In the climactic battle, the surviving soldiers build, erect and man a triple redoubt. The ensuing slaughter is incredible. This scene is almost matched by the following one in which there is the roll call of death.

Nigel Green plays the Colour-Sergeant & is incredible.
Caine is Caine.
Baker is Baker.

It's gets better than this genre of film, but, I'll be damned if I can cite it.

"The Siege at Trencher's Farm" aka "Straw Dogs" - 1971

Juicy wet Susan George has Hoffman at her daddy's stone home in the English countryside. She sits in her daddy's chair, chewing gum & trying to get Hoffman away from his white chalk & black board and onto her daddy's leather couch. He doesn't get there, but, she does, face down-butt up.

It turns ugly as the staid constable is murdered just outside the house.

Hoffman takes a stand, withholds David Warner (child killer) from the murderers. He & George throw the bolt, fort up & we begin.

- "Amy, if they get in, they'll kill us all."

- Hoffman

Susan George is eye candy in that movie.

She transcends that, Watt---at the doings in the Hall. From that point on.

Mixing broad comedy & Eleniak's charms with wholesale murder puts the touch on that, Strat.

But, isn't Patrick O'Neal as the "Captain" something else again? His character is as sharp as a serpent's tooth, way ahead of the curve. He's placed "Ryback" -there- & why he's got an armed Marine at the hatch to his quarters. He gets careless 1 time though & he's dead.
