Which year of the 1990's had the best movies?

IMO 1993 was the best year of the 1990's when it comes to movies, I feel there were so many great movies being released that year, my favorite movies from 1993 in no particular order are

Groundhog Day
Grumpy Old Men
Mrs. Doubtfire
The Sandlot
Rookie Of The Year
Dazed And Confused
Jurassic Park

1995 was pretty good, wasn't it?

Toy Story
GoldenEye
Se7en
The Usual Suspects

Not personal favourites of mine, but Heat, Casino and Get Shorty are pretty acclaimed.
Clueless and Pocahontas were also pretty good.

Or how about 1999?

The Sixth Sense
The Matrix
Tbe Mummy
The Blair Witch Project
Sleepy Hollow

reply

"The Sixth Sense"

The kids knew of course and nagged me into watching it & I did not recognize the deal until the end.

Not until the ring dropped, Cully. It took my sister of few more seconds (when he looked at his hand). Very funny how she asked me what was wrong when I gasped and then immediately grabbed my arm when she realized it as well. Such a shame we then went home and revealed the twist to our mother. She loves the movie, but did not have the same experience as we did.

"Freeway" - 1996 - Solid recall & citation, Sand.

What a bizarre film and placement for it's stars. It's almost surreal in it's production & presentation.

"The Wanderers" is like that as well.

reply

If you like Freeway you should check out Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby. Very twisted and violent.

1998 was a good year. Saving Private Ryan came out too as did The Thin Red Line which is a masterpiece imo.
